Well, I think my interview went well. I couldn't really get a read on the guy until we started talking about availability and then things went much better.

I also like that he prefers to e-mail applicants rather than call. We both shared a chuckle about hating to call people, and I think I convinced him to buy a BlackBerry.

I love Literary agents that do e-mail queries and submissions.

He's a lazy SOB.

Heck I think most admins aren't that active on forums anyways, since they run it.

Well most I've been too.

Somehow today while driving back home a bird flew in front of my car and got hit, so I have successfully hit a flying bird. I LOL'ed at that as I saw it crashing to the side of the road, well fluttering to the side of the road or landing. I don;t know if I killed it or if it was hurt, I'd assume it's wing was broke but not dead.

the thing is fucking stupid. it doesnt charge, it dies super easily (battery problems), it constantly decides to freeze up, sometimes wont even light up when i click the button or screen to answer something.

basically, now that ive played with iphones and android based phones, its night and day. blackberry can not compare.

Well, I think the interview went well. They told me that the position available to me would be bussing. I'm just hoping that this will transition into me eventually becoming a server. I feel like bussing will teach me a lot and give me a feel of what it's like to work in the restaurant business, so it will be a good way for me to see if I can/want to end up being a server.

Bussing is nice, but it can be SUPER stressful carrying around a full tray of heavy dishes. Don't be afraid to start out small, but make sure you work quick. Nothing pisses off hostesses more than a slow busser when there's a wait and servers don't like having to clean their own table when they have customers to take care of. It's kind of amazing when you work in a restaurant because you really learn how one functions so well. You'll also learn what pisses restaurant workers off. I know that when I go out now that it can get really annoying when you point out a table you want instead of the one the hostess is showing you. It messes up order for servers and can throw things out of whack. Boy, that brings back memories.

Thanks for all the advice...I appreciate it because I have zero experience in the restaurant business. Hopefully I'll be okay.

I mean obviously you're gonna be cut some slack for being new, so don't worry about that. I know you're a smart person and a good worker, so you're gonna do just fine.

Just go out there and do the best you can with what you know. If there's something you're not doing quite right, they'll let you know. The good companies will work with you to make you better, the bad ones will treat you like shit when you do something you didn't know better of. I have been employed by both types, i quit the first day of my job that had the "treat you like shit" variety.

Awww thank you. :) That's what I'm hoping... the owner says how he has real high expectations for his employees but he knows that I have no experience so I'm hoping things will be okay. I hope I don't annoy any of the servers as I'm learning.

Yeah, I just don't want it to turn out that way because a family friend is real good friends with the owner so both the friend and the owner are doing me a favor by getting me a "in", so I just hope things go smoothly haha.
