story time. gather around.

i work with a kid who is also on my softball team. every day he comes to me for advice. so here goes.

jake has a kid with his ex, a one year old son who he has never met. recently, he and his ex have started talking again, so he can be a part of his sons life, and he very much wants to me. however, his current girlfriend, who he lives with (with her family) wants him to have nothing to do with the son. so he and his ex text alot, and he has to delete them, because his current girlfriend takes his phone and checks it. also this is a good time to tell you that he has to hide money from his current GF, or else she takes it. yesterday his new ATM card came in the mail, and his girlfriends mom opened it, and went to take it to an ATM to take out his money so she could allot the money to him when she saw fit. luckily he got home in time and this didnt come to fruition. ANYWAYS.... he forgot to delete a text one day, and she went bat shit crazy. so fast forward to today, and they get in an argument over the phone while hes at work at lunch. in pure anger, he finally throws his phone against the wall. it survived without a scratch. she keeps calling and he finally answers, saying hes done. he says his coming home, taking his stuff, going to his moms and they are finished. she texts him saying "thats not going to happen."

so at our game, he comes with his girlfriend and her family, and i look at him, and hes clearly been crying. i go, whats the story man? and he says. oh, she told them we were done, so they hid my car keys (he drives his GFs car cause his isnt running great. she has no job, so, he uses it)... then they took his wallet and his cell phone, and told him he cant leave.

is anyone else seeing this as pure fucking shit crazy?

thats fucking crazy mike. outside of the fact that something in the whole "keeping him" has to be illegal i really feel bad for the guy.

i hate psycho girlfriends.

if something doesnt change, getting the cops involved...while messy...would probably be the safer option.

sadly, jake has done dumb things as a kid, so he has a minor history. plus its their word against his. i mean, he was so furious at her, he threw his cell phone against a wall. eventually, thats going to be her, and then hes the asshole. he needs out, and more importantly, he needs to be a father.

the situation hasnt improved much, but some. they had sex for the first time since january last night, but he says she cried the whole time... talk about a turn on.

today, he had his cell and wallet back, but no keys. his main set are missing, his spare key locked away by her. she says they arnt over, he says they are. i guess she texted 16 times in 10 minutes of pictures of them, then had her friend text him repeatedly. she also said they are going out tonight with her friends, which means hes walking right into a buzz saw. he tried, and she never did, till he said he was done. its real sad. he walks around and you can just see his misery. and today i came back from lunch and he was crying again. i get the impression hes kinda emotional, but the worst part is, his ex canceled him meeting his son because she said that theres too much drama and she doesnt want to add to it, but he is insisting. shes trying to do the right thing.

he also said, look, yesterday it was my phone, i was abused as a kid, i dont want that to be her. i just feel for the kid, and i wanna help. but i cant.

I'm having the best baseball season of my life, on the worst team I've ever played on. My JV team is god awful, and me and my good friend (we are both #13, purely by accident) are the only two that ever score, but I just went 3-3 and pitched 2 innings. My pitching is decent, but I get rocked when people figure out that i throw slow as hell. I love to pitch, have no (knocking on wood) arm problems whatsoever and would gladly pitch 300 innings in a 23 game season if I could. I don't mean to take away from your friends problems Irony, (or seem like a self centered douche) but right now my life is fucking great.

A few days ago we got an umpire who was deaf, so he couldn't talk too good, (well? goodly?) and at one point he yelled the loudest and highest-pitched strike call I've ever heard. I tried not to cry laughing because I know he can't help it, but damn it was hilarious.

hey, pat green. animal question. i caught a tree frog at work the other day, let it go outside the building. it seems like a grey tree frog, but the markings were much more dark and numerous then most other grey tree frogs, and lacked the white stripe under the eye. my first thought was "barking tree frog" but we dont have those anywhere NEAR michigan. what gives?
