I find it hard to hate him for providing for people what others would not - an end to their pain, even if his methods have him condemned as a murderer or accomplice.

In my state, what he does is totally legal, thanks no doubt to his efforts. Physician assisted suicide is what they call it, passed into law by a ballot measure called the Death with Dignity Act. Kevorkian deserves praise if you ask me.

I like it, it contains a lot of issues I address and hope to address in my book.

The single worst moment of my life... was the moment I was born.
--Dr. Jack Kevorkian

He's a creepy dude. Suicide is awful, it's a horrendous thing that I hope nobody reading this ever has to consider. But the harsh reality is that most people HAVE considered it, some do so every day. Making it easier for people who are already looking for an easy way out is not why the 9th Amendment was put into place. Doctors are suppose to help heal people, killing them is retarded.

Anybody that wants to die should first visit this bridge in Russia I recently read about....

I can understand it in terminally ill people, if they have no chance at recovery it might actually be a help to THEM if they can die quicker and less painfully.

It would get out of hand quickly, and the lawsuits would pile up... but it's still a nice thought, in a way.

The guy is a bit *off*, but I have no general problem with what he's doing.
It's his "promotion" or "advocacy" that's creepy.

But, we're talking about ill people suffering, not a teenager having a bad day.
Ultimately, it's your life to live, it's your life to succeed, it's your life to fuck-up and it's your life to end.

This, this, this, and that.

I'm glad nobody's taken the religious approach to this "if you commit suicide, 'yer goin to HELLLLLLL".

If doctors are there to heal, then can I just open a clinic? I'm not a doctor ^.^

The one thing I don't agree with him on is when he said that laws like seat belts and such are infringing on the 9th amendment. If you don't wear your seat belt and are in an accident then you are a larger burden on state resources and tax dollars because most of the time the injuries are far more serious. I ain't paying for your dumb ass when you do through your window and I shouldn't so I'm happy for that particular law. Also if the paramedics are scooping you up instead of helping someone who tried to stay safe then you're not just a burden but an asshole to boot..haha.

But yeah we need to let people die with dignity. Withering away from cancer is awful and I hope that if it happens to me there is a doctor around to help end the pain for me and stop the medical bill hemorrhage for my family.

Wait a minute there, you're sounding like me when you criticized my "karma" thread comments about the drunk guy being a jerk before falling over the balcony. I thought there was no morbid, cynical humor allowed in here.

Is telling someone where to buy a gun, and where to shoot themselves with it(medulla oblongata) "assisting" suicide??? Now you can see why legislators don't like playing with this topic. Morality(especially religious morality) often makes common sense look bad.
