Let's get more depressed together...

Has anyone thought about this $20 billion escrow account Obama got BP to set up?
He has no authority to force them to do that.
So why oh why would BP voluntarily purge their coffers of $20 Billion?

Because the Obama administration has assured them there won't be a criminal prosecution.
That's the only explanation.

It's been estimated the total cleanup costs could rise over $1 trillion. That's more then BP's market cap.
It would destroy the company.

So BP gets to keep their business and Obama looks like he's a tough guy and is making them pay.
We get screwed and once again Obama gets in the way of the free market to keep a zombie business alive.
I swear this guy loves corporations more than any Republican.

I can agree with that; the trillion dollar bailout? Enough to give everyone in the US 18 or older ~4k. Woulda been one helluva stimulus check o.0

Instead, corporations got whole percentages of it.

methinks that's because we're only looking at BP right now...

No, this is according to OSHA.

BP: fined 760 times for "egregious, willful" violations.
Exxon: fined once.

http://www.businessinsider.com/bp-has-b ... ety-2010-6

BP is the bad egg.

in all fairness, OSHA is fucking retarded.

In all fairness, no, they're really not, unless you give a reason why the organization is "retarded".

Yea, Mike, I gotta side with J on this one. How is OSHA retarded when their entire purpose is doing workplace inspections and citing safety violations?

osha fined the palace 5,000 dollars for a pallet that was "not completely on the ground".. one corner was on the corner of another pallet, both empty. my fork lift license was invalidated because i quit PSE... why on EARTH could it not be used on other jobs. OSHA wants a safer work place, fair enough. but their rules are fucking retarded half the time, so i firmly give those fucks my middle finger for all the shit they put us through.

Guess your guys should've abided by OSHA's regulations more. When I was at Petri for four years, they had one fine levied against them that I knew of, and it was only a couple of hundred dollars. I know this because I was chummy with the safety department manager.

Your bosses didn't do their jobs then. You should've been well-versed in any regulations that would pertain to your working area.

Don't fault OSHA for something when it's on your former employer's heads.

Someone could walk by assuming it's on the ground and trip over it, injuring themselves or someone else.

Just because your employer didn't give a shit about safety rules and didn't make you abide by them doesn't make those rules bullshit.

it was in the boneyard! NO ONE goes out there, except with a forklift, to stack pallets.

But what if someone DID go out there on foot for some reason, tripped backwards over the pallet and fractured the back of their skull on the floor? OSHA forces employers to consider every possibility and work toward preventing it.

then that person should be awarded a darwin.

it was a fast paced job, sometimes, you have to move forward and gather stuff after players/performers/ect have been accommodated.

i'm with mike. OSHA is like unions...it was good and necessary when it started, but a lot of times is bullshit now.

No, it's really fucking not. It's just like the mess that started this oil spill. There are rules and regulations in place TO KEEP PEOPLE SAFE AND ALIVE.

Follow them; that's all.

yeah, it really fucking is. there are degrees to everything. comparing a pallet that's not flat to the oil spill is a big stretch, too.
