Well just got back from a double header baseball game and fireworks for Canada day and i am really excited that Leopold is no a Sabre. I have wanted Leopold on the Sabres for awhile now.

If Regier re-signed Tallinder people would be saying, "Good, we needed to keep at least one of them". Leopold is THE SAME player as Tallinder, but he's younger and his market value isn't as high. If Tallinder didn't luck out by playing with Myers and Leopold didn't get his head crushed at the end of the season people would be convinced this was an upgrade. It's not an upgrade or a downgrade, it's a simple replacement...for a little less than what Tallinder got.

The summer isn't over and Buffalo will still have cap space after qualifying offers to RFAs and signing a back-up goalie. If Golisano chooses to spend any of that cap room there will be more moves, but that could take weeks. We have to wait and see how the UFA market pans out before many trades happen.

I like your take on boobies .... and i like boobies...

weber will give you a hell of a lot more penalty minutes than lydman did, though. webs got a temper he can't totally control. which i think is can be a GREAT thing for this organization

That's exactly what this team needs, I just hope he comes to camp in the best shape of his life to try to earn a spot. He had his chance last year and took a step back.

Weber didn't have a chance last season, he overcame a shoulder injury and played himself back into top shape. Now with a solid full season behind him he's in great position to take Lydman's spot. I think he will, but like all young players he'll have his share of mistakes and growing pains.

and honestly.... I remember Sekra - Weber in the play-offs a few years ago.... if they could put THAT into a whole season!!!! Damn thats a first or second line pairing right there....

Meyers - Leopold
Weber - Sekera (again the pairing I saw in the play-offs a few years ago)

Weber-Sekera never played in the playoffs together, so I don't know what you're talking about.

It was during the desperate stretch to climb back into the playoffs in 2007-08 when they played together, but they missed out by a few points.

I knew that. They were +14 (Weber) and +13 or +12 (Sekera) in like 13 games to close out the season. Sekera even had an OT GWG set up by Weber to keep their playoff hopes alive v Boston.

Nah, it was the end of 07-08, just like Phil said that GWG was against Boston in OT. It felt like playoffs because Buffalo had to win about every game.

thats gotta be it.... my bad.... i must have just been in play-off mode... i was close, sorry.... but they still played together in a "play-off" atmosphere and did pretty damn well together... now put that shit together for a whole year....

They were amazing that stretch. An NHL-experienced Sekera and hungry Weber could make a formidable pair once again. Can't wait to see it happen.

Well, if you are right then I hope they play together next year.

They're both lefties, so it's not an ideal pairing. I also see Weber as a potential #4 d-man, and Sekera as a #6 or #7 d-man.

valid point... was just thinking back to that stretch and liked what i remembered... I'd like to see Weber up, because I think he is ready... BUT i'd also like to see another D man added, preferable a top 4 guy, if there are any left... and then I'd move Butler or Sekera...

Butler did have a down year though, didn't he? didn't he play better as a rook than a 2nd year? or am i off the mark with him? who has the most potential out of Sekera and Butler and how good could they be?
