Trading for Hornqvist is a SERIOUS gamble but it could pay off like nobody saw coming - Patric was the very last player taken in his draft year, but had a 30g season in his first full season.

I don't think the guy will be a gamble at all. He's already made the NHL as the very last pick overall. He will be something special even if he never is a superstar.

He had 35 points in 49 games in his first AHL season, which isn't that bad for a guy like him, then 51 points last year in 80 games.

I think this guy has the motivation to be very special and if we could land him, maybe he will be.

But you'd trade Mancari, Gerbe, AND Roy/Connolly for a guy that COULD be special? Too much of a risk for me.

Yea, I wouldn't trade that for Hornqvist. He shouldn't command anything close to that package. Take out Mancari and Gerbe and you'd get him for a Roy or Connolly. No need to add anything else in, and maybe their second rounder for our third also.

You give that package to a team, I'm expecting a guy who is a guarantee and has proven himself quite well already.

Imo if Stafford doesn't step up this year Mancari probably steps into that same role. He's a righty, has powerfoward potential, and if he gets a mean streak could be a pretty decent player.

Mancari makes Stafford expendable, but if Stafford steps up, Mancari is expendable.

Well Hornqvist has shown work ethic, drive, and determination to make himself into a great player. Plus given his european style play he'd fit in great with Vanek on the opposite wing, and open up more space for Roy to do whatever the fuck Roy does

Maybe we resign Mancari, and let Mair and Ellis walk and Mancari could at least be a player that has size to fill those two departures.

Who knows though, we'll have to see how he tries at Camp.

If nothing else, the guy was a 7th round pick. It's not like he was destined to be the face of the franchise or anything.

He seems to be just like that Alexandre Giroux. Great AHLer, just not quite a fit in the NHL.

Yea, it's not like he was a bust of a pick.

I hope he makes some hell at camp and makes the team and shows he can be a true power forward and NHL player. I'd love to see it, I love seeing the late round picks flourish in the NHL when no one expected them to.

Maybe he's holding out for a bigger payday once again?

All the Sabres RFAs have held out but Weber, actually.

Well most deserve more than their QO anyways.
