Anyone really familiar with the Smithsonian? I'll be going to DC with a friend in about two weeks, and though we both definitely want to hit up the Air and Space Museum and the National Design Museum, are there any museums that are really must-see besides the air and space? I'm interested in the American Indian Museum but am not sure if that would be boring for someone who isn't dying to go.

We're actually thinking of going there too on the way to NC next week. I'll make a thread.

The good thing that you realized Jael is that the Smithsonian is a collection of museums (most people don't realize this). My fav is the air and space, the natural history museum is cool too. The American history museum was renovated not too long ago. If you two lemme know, I may be able to meet up with ya.

That was a pretty cool read Phil. Those sushi restaurants sound really good.

Dude, I'm a sushi addict. When someone says "Let's go out for dinner" the first thing I think of EVERY time is sushi :D

I've had it a few times and loved it, but I've never actually been to a Sushi restaurant.

Next time you're in the Southern Tier, on your way home get off the 90 at exit 56 (McKinley Mall) and hit Wasabi up in the plaza on the outside of the mall's parking lot. Get the gyoza dumplings, a small sushi sampler, and the tempura banana for dessert. Damn good eats. Doesn't fill ya up, though.

Will do, though I don't think we'll be there at the same time.

Today as I was driving I saw a banana peel in the road and instictively swerved to avoid it... thanks Mario Kart! ^_^

If you have an .edu e-mail address, you can sign up for free second-day shipping from Amazon for a year (really it's Amazon Prime, but that's the biggest benefit of it).

http://consumerist.com/2010/07/get-amaz ... dress.html

Considering that books are the only things I ever spend money on and that I order them from Amazon 'cause you can get used ones for like a dollar, this is AWESOME.

Edit:
Apparently you can share it with four family members, too. My father orders stuff off Amazon all the time. Weeeee.

Sweeeet. Doesn't apply to a lot of things apparently (mostly things sold by Amazon), but still awesome. I just ordered a book that I wanted by this weekend and was planning on getting at Borders for $10 more.

Ouch.

I'm having a helluva time trying to find work. I'm resorting to temp agencies at this point. It sucks so much. I haven't had to do this (temp agencies) since I was fucking 19. Six years.

I'm also thinking about getting myself a Kickstarter account. It's a donation site where I can set a monetary goal (say, exactly what I'd need for a netbook and small HD camcorder for my sports blogging) and people donate whatever they want, but they're only committed to pay up if I hit my goal. If I don't, everyone is off the hook.

I think I may be able to convince my parents to buy me a pair of Doc Martens for Christmas due to the fact that the kind I would actually want, just plain black boots, is available with that little for life thing. $150 for shoes for the rest of my life is not bad at all to say the least, and I've been replacing one pair of black leather boots after they wear out with another (from the men's section; they don't sell boots like that for women in the usual places) since I was twelve. Usually I own only a pair of those, a pair of shoes I can wear with a dress, and maybe some flip flops, some summers (this summer I bought a pair lol; it's the heat).

$150? You should be able to find em for $110. Go to Journeys and you'll be able to find pretty much any style Doc Martens pair for under $150. Hell, even the 14-eyelet boot is only $120.
