It's the fact of... Why? He is worth the 1 mill and there was no reason to buy him out.

Im cool with this. Big, solid soht blocker, stay at home type. Would probably make a pretty mean pair with Myers. Than line would be hard as fuck to play against

This isn't directed at you in particular B&Y but

ROSTER SIZE MAX IS 23 ACTIVE SKATERS

Add in the 22 we have under contract + Shaone Morrisonn, and thats 23 active, leaving us no room for a player that really shows up and brings it at camp (Luke Adam or otherwise)

By waiving Kennedy, it takes him off the active roster, and also allows for a 2 for 1 deal, or a 3 for 2 deal. There is a method behind the madness here, and Kennedy's game is too similar to Hecht, Stafford, Pommers, Connolly, Roy, Vanek, and Gerbe to justify keeping him at only 26 points, and 50 PIMs. He's lowest production, and least talented, with maybe the exception of Gerbe, but he doesn't have to clear waivers to go down. So Gerbe is more valuable to the organization as a whole right now.

It's not a cap casualty, it's a roster size casualty.

Not gonna argue that point

But Gerbe doesn't have enough games played, and is still on his ELC, he can be sent up and down at will for the next 25-30 games iirc; somebody can check my CBA knowledge on that later, I'm sure there's someone dying to one up me today :P

Kennedy played too many games to be sent up and down freely, thats why he's on waivers.

HF Boards says the signing has a cap hit of $1.75M per. If that's true, I REALLY like it.

Maybe something BIG is going to happen, and that is what convinced him to come here?

Maybe he wants to play in a system that would suit his particular playing style better than the run-n-gun of the Caps?

League has a lot of those.

Only the Sabres have the reigning Vezina winner and Calder-winning defenseman.

For some reason, I was probably huffing glue and didn't know about it, I forgot we had the best goalie in the world and an upcoming, 6 foot 7 Calder winning D man...

Here's what I like about Morrisonn - he's perfect for Myers. Why? He was Mike Green's partner for two or three years! He's used to sitting back while a smooth-skating, puck-carrying defenseman flies up ice!

Not to mention he can hit, play D, blocks shots, and is gritty.
