I see where you're coming from, B&Y, totally. And although I'm not condoning what he has done in the past with regards to his Jr. career, I have to say that I'm excited as shit to see this kid in our uniform. He's a big, strong, tough SOB that has some decent hands, which is something we've been missing on this team for a while. With no deal in place going into camp, I'm assuming he knew he had to have a change of mind as to how he represented himself, the Spitfires as well as the Sabres. He knew he had to change some things if he wanted his meal ticket to be in Buffalo, as opposed to another year in Jr. I'm not saying he's seen the light over night or anything, but when you have a kid who has some kind of a decent head on his shoulders and you dangle the keys to his NHL future before his eyes; a come-to-jesus-talk can do wonders.

No doubt in my mind he will pancake a lot of guys in the NHL, but there is also always someone bigger & stronger than him floating around on the ice that will likely keep him grounded either with this club, or on an opposing team (See the Boogie-man in NY.). If he goes down the path of the arsehole in the NHL, someone will make an honest man out of him. But I’ll be cheering him on as long as he wears our sweater and represents the team and the uniform with class! ;)

I'm not saying I don't want him on my team, and he is a good player, just we can't forget those incidents just yet because he's going to be a Sabre very soon.

You can't ever forget his incidents, you have to only forgive what he did. Especially if he is sorry about doing such things.

agreed. what i dont like is the reports hes a douchebag. i guess the whole bar fight thing was someone "giving him a look" or so i heard.

Word on the street is that Kaleta is a raging douchebag when he's drunk too. Nobody seems to worry about him on the roster though.

fair point, but i still dont have to like it.

We don't have to like it but if the kid can play at this level now then you have to make this move. I'm glad the kid had a good game but he must be making a strong impression during practice and scrimmages.

agreed on having to make a move.. sending him down if he's really NHL ready is only going to hinder him as a player. let him grow with the big boys as long as lindy thinks he's ready .

also, i know it was kind of different back then, but anyone ever hear Rayzor tell stories about when Barnaby came to play in Buffalo and how he got in a big bar fight with a few guys? (don't remember if this was on the Enforcers show, or in his book)
It definitely happens. Especially when you're 19. Even more so when someone at the bar knows who you are, and knows your profession is essentially to be a tough guy.

He's under age. If he was drinking, why didn't the police say something? I mean, I have no problem with it, but it's illegal.

noone really made a stink about pat kane getting arrested on chippewa for the whole incident with the cabbie. and wasnt' pk 20 at the time? what was he doing on chippewa?

Pat Kane nabbed a cabby then won a cup.

Kassian can be a dick as long as Buff wins a cup too.

Edit: Though talented, I also think Pat Kane is a dick, and I'm good friends with his cousin (not the cab story one)

I don't think being a good hockey player should allow ANYBODY a free pass to be a dick or a horrible citizen.

So you're saying all of our players should be stoic and considerate all the time?

A team needs personality. Every team has a dickhead, you won't find one team in this league full of Jonathon Toews.
Let the kid's preformance on the ice speak for him.

Toews isn't a model citizen either, he said FUCK on live TV.

He's a hockey player. Let him assault people. Okay. There's a fine line between a bad attitude, and a bad citizen.

I don't care if he ravages your mom and puts your dad in a coma, as long as he bangs in 20^ and hits like a machine.

It doesn't matter if he's a douchebag, what matters is if he can make a difference on the team or not. It shouldn't come as a surprise that a lot of the hockey players can be tools when they are out drinking too.

Lies, no one is a toolbag while drinking, they do everything perfectly.

Kassian punts a baby into the ocean.
