Well at 185, I definitely have considerable size on you guys, and most people in fact. But I don't have NHL size, or skill for that matter, so I have to get by on being a mean, tough, son of a bitch. I don't have any considerable stick skills, although I still probably have first line skills compared to most folks that play "drop in", none the less, I have always used tenacity, and aggression to hone my game. It's just how I'm built. I love contact, I love physicality, and I love nothing more than to use that to wear down an opponent. I played two days this weekend, once in Erie PA, I had 2g 4a in 3 games down there, then I played again yesterday, and had 0g 0a and 15 PIMs...and a 12 month suspension. At any rate, I've got some skill, but I use my body and my toughness to gain an edge on the opposing team. It's just how I'm built. Have no qualms with guys who are smaller than me playing a grinding role. I've always been a physical player no matter what sport I play.
I still hold the record for PIMs in a career and a game in Jamestown Lacrosse, and I think I still hold some scoring records as well. I'm purely built for contact sports, and I love ever second of physicality I can get.
I won the league grinder award for our league haha.
I'm fast, I'm one of the fastest skaters in the league, even though I may look dangerous as hell doing it. I'm also one of the craziest. I have no face shield and I'm pretty much the only guy in the league that will lay out to block shots, or dive. These two things help me compensate for my mediocre positioning when I play defensemen. On defense, I almost always make the right pass. I have pretty good vision and passing skills.
As a forward, like I said, I'm fast. I'm also only 145 pounds, and I have pretty much the softest wheels you can buy which pretty much also makes me the most agile person in the rink too. I don't think I have great puck skills, but I seem to have no trouble deking through defenders. This is probably due in part to my speed and agility. I also think that while I'm not great at keeping the puck on my stick, I'm pretty good at picking it up again amid the chaos.
The worst part of my game is my shot. My fundamentals are probably terrible. Every once in a while I get off a good one time, but most of the time I just aim five hole because that's where the puck is probably going anyways.
