Why do people think they can protect their moronic statements by saying "Well, I'm allowed to have my own opinion." as if we have to suddenly respect what you just said? We already know that you can have your own opinions. Opinions can be wrong and stupid. And yours is. Sorry if you can't handle people thinking that.

Caroline, ever think maybe you go overboard in defense of Miller? Check it.

I don't care...I'm not stupid, I know that I am overprotective over him. I'll defend him when I feel like it's deserved.

You feel it's deserved every single time. Stop being the thought police by jumping on everyone who says even a mildly disparaging thing about him. You've been acting like Schony.

You're wrong, but I'm not going to get into such an idiotic argument with you. Sorry. I don't tell people how they should think, but I can put in my two cents whatever the fuck I want, just like everyone else on here. Sorry if it annoys you.

it seems a bit ridiculous to get bent out of shape over other people's perceptions of your opinions. i'm not siding with anyone, and i think it extends to several parties, but it is human instinct.

regardless of how much or little any of us may know each other, there is a need to defend our opinions and remain legitimate in the eyes of others. i'm sure most of you have an ambivalent view of me, but it's rather odd that we all seem to respect, admire, or dislike certain roster members of the sabres based on what we see in the arena or on the television.

in short, arguing, especially on this specific issue, really is just posturing within the community. who cares what everyone on here thinks? for that matter, fuck what i think. this comment doesn't really mean anything anyway.

i just hope the sabres don't run off the ice with their tails (or sticks) between their legs and their heads down tonight.

Ok, and after reading all of the responses, lets try to keep prespective on our beloved Sabres.
I am posting these post game threads each and every game. Or, atleast since the NJ game. So we all need to get used to Slesh's opinions. I don't consider myself an asshole, maybe a bit over dramatic on the post game posts when they loose (yes Squanto, I thought long and hard on how to put it ;) ), But in all honesty, those are my feelings on the performance I witnessed that particular game.

In other words, these posts aren't meant to create an atmosphere that divides us, they are meant to express my thoughts and allow others to vent (if its a loss) or shout with jubilation (if its a victory) and point out the pros and cons of each game.

We are all Sabres fans, as much as I have touted the potential for trading Miller either at the end of this season or during the trade deadline of the next season, I found myself consoling Fly because quite honestly, she is correct, Miller is the back bone of this team and with out him we'd be in much worse shape. So even though I have a differing opinion, I can connect with her on that and actually look at her point of view objectionally. (Side note: Fly, I love Miller's play, but, I can't find it within me to want to play with him :o ;) ).

The performance in these 4 home games should have many of us upset, some express it with hope to the remainder of the season, some point out recurring mistakes by individual players as well as the overall team effort. The point is, no matter your prespective on the teams short and long term potential, we should all respect each others opinions, and I am no less guilty than others on this.

With that said, FUCK CONNOLLY!!!!!

Dude, you referred to yourself in the third person. So maybe you don't consider yourself an asshole, but one of you is.

Ah, but did Slesh post that, or Slesh's alter ego?
Food for thought, no?

I don't entirely disagree with Gasoline. I don't think Miller was outplayed by Price. That one habs goal was just downright retarded.

However, I don't think he's been playing like the Vezina Trophy winning goalie that he is. I'm not going to sit here and pretend that Miller isn't a very good goalie and key part of the Sabres success, but I'm not going to excuse him because he won ONE trophy that DOESN'T MEAN ANYTHING that ILYA BRYZGALOV PROBABLY DESERVED ANYWAYS, and because he's a likable guy. Hecht and Vanek and Tallinder were and are all plenty likable, but no one has any problem riding their asses when they don't play up to expectations, and Miller isn't.

In short about Miller:
It was cute every time Marty ran his mouth. It's not cute when you do it Miller. It's nice when we're winning, it's obnoxious when we're losing. And right now, we're losing. We don't need you to play unofficial captain like Luongo and suck balls when it counts. Shut up, play hockey.

Being critical of Miller is one thing.

Thinking that this team was better off with Lalime in net (which is one of the things that was suggested) is something else altogether. I think we can all agree that a less than stellar Miller is still light years ahead of a great Lalime at this point.

Agreed, but I'm referencing a pattern of behavior. Whatever.

I don't understand what you mean about him winning the Vezina. No one is giving him a free pass all because he won it last year. He's played in four games, the Chicago and New York games weren't his best and he definitely didn't play like a Vezina winner. But I don't see how anyone could criticize his performances in the Devils and Habs game.

And when was the last time Ryan ran his mouth? Or by "running his mouth" do you just mean his interviews in general? I don't see why he should stop being interviewed all because we are losing games.

I think people treat Miller with kid gloves and are less willing to criticize him because he's Ryan Miller.

I guess his outspokenness in interviews isn't so bad because it came when we were 1-2 and fresh off the Pominville injury and not 1-4 and generally playing like crap. It still seems like waxing poetic on how crappy the league is, isn't the best course of action when you aren't winning.

I think Miller deserves about as much criticism right now as Vanek does. (Miller has had the misfortune of seeing a few crappy bounces and had a couple less than stellar performances, but he's still generally played well and prepares as well as anyone, and he has a bunch of idiots in front of him. Vanek has had the misfortune of seeing a few crappy bounces and great saves, but he's still in the right position to score, and backchecking hard, and he has an idiot in a 19 sweater playing next to him).

Just sick of you acting like Markus on Vanek and looking the other way on Miller.

This is true. But maybe people are less willing to criticize him because more times than not he does his job and what is expected from him? So when he does have an off night, people are more willing to let it slide because it's rare.

Maybe he's earned that right, because it's not often when he lets his team down, but could the same be said for players like Vanek, Connolly, or Stafford?

That's such an exaggeration and you know it. I don't have a personal vendetta against Vanek like Markus seems to. I've said a few comments here and there about how frustrating it is to watch him come so close to scoring but he still can't find the back of the net. We all know how much Vanek means to this team. We all know how talented he can be when he's on his game. That's why it is so frustrating to watch him "almost" score.

And I don't look the other way on Miller. I'm not going to defend him when he plays bad. But I am going to defend him when he allows one goal on 35 shots and people like you say you want more from him, when players like Vanek, whose job it is to be an offensive threat, can't even score a single goal. Just seems like you're going after Miller at the wrong time.

Wow Fly, don't hold back, tell us how you really feel about Vanek, Connolly and Staff infections :)
