lol I know holy fuck even I read between those lines. It's like it's the first time some people have ever heard that word and their all freaked out about it.

It was an effed up thing to do to someone, it gives the game a bad image, and I don't think that kid did anything to deserve that other than run his mouth. That dude should be suspended for 10 games and sent to anger management.

He said "Way to be a professional", actually. His brother (the other Wild fan) chimed in to someone about the debacle.

I think a simple "fuck you loser" would have sufficed, grabbing fans is very bad. No danger of that in Atlanta, there aren't any.

Here's my take on it. Rypien was wrong, no doubt about it. But why in Gods name are the fans that close to the players anyway? No barrier or canopy, GTFO, that's just stupid design by the arena.

Also, nobody really knows what the kid said, but be smart enough to no taunt a guy who was just in a fight and got tossed. It just pisses me off when people are disrespectful, and down right asking for it, then when they get theirs, they cry and cower. I understand this circumstance is different than in real life, but if you're gonna run your mouth, take the beating you have coming to you, or back your shit up...only two options you have.

The missing canopy is what Jeff Marek brought up today on Twitter. My guess is every arena will keep the visiting team hallway canopies out all game long now.

Did he? I didn't even check Twitter today, lol. Just dont think players should have access to fans during the game, and vice-versa.

According to a vid on tsn.ca, the kid is seeking legal representation.

This is about to turn into a circus act.

Edit:

Assaulted??

Does this mean we have to change the name of my favorite beverage to 'milkbeating' now? Well, there is always the emotional damage, haha. He probably can't leave his apt, or look people in the eye anymore. That's worth at least a few million, right? What a little pussy.

The guy gets grabbed and shook violently for clapping at a game, and he's a pussy for wanting some action? What if someone grabbed you and shoved you, but ran. You'd want to fuck them up, correct? Well, he can't, so he's taking legal action.

That guy is just taking advantage of being able to sue a professional athlete.

Nobody knows what was said by the kid. He's claiming "Way to be professional" Well let me tell you, I've said some pretty fucked up things in my day, and had people not come after me. Rypien isn't going to go after the kid unless he said something well beyond that. Fuck I tell people to be professional on a semi-weekly basis, have yet for one of them to come after me.

Something doesn't add up about the whole situation.

B&Y; If someone grabbed me and shook me violently, they would have good reason. Also that kid cowered in fear like a little pussy, making me think that what he's going for is money. If he was violently attacked, sure, but fuck man, I see people get shoved on a regular basis while out at the bars, and 99.9% of the time, the aggressor doesn't even go to jail. So dont give me the shit that he's looking for retribution, hes looking for money.

I don't care what the fan said, it didn't even look like he said anything. He was clapping. You don't grab someone, shove them and shake them when you're a hockey player. Especially to a fan. Only scenario I see fit where he does this is if the fan tries to grab him or the fan says some very threatening words, something he probably didn't do.

Honestly, if I were sitting there mocking a professional athlete (Oh Noooos!) and the asshole grabs me like that, I'd sue the dumb fuck too. I'm allowed to talk shit to the other teams player, it's been happening since sport was created. That fan didn't grab Rypien or throw a punch. He talked shit. Period. If this rich meat head wants to grab the guy and act like that (and laying your hands on someone like that by law is assault) fuck him, he has it coming.

We don't even know if he was spewing hateful words. Looked to me like he was just clapping at him.

I understand your thinking BandY but this is the exact reason this country is so fucked up. Take legal action for what? How serious was he injured, what extreme emotion distress did he suffer from this. It's bullshit and I wish judges had some balls to tell these assholes to go fuck themselves. :angry-soapbox:

Anyway, action will be taken by the NHL.

Well to take it one step further. I agree with SiDC...there is an issue with the lawsuit.

The purpose of a lawsuit by definition is to put you in the situation you were in before you were wronged. I highly doubt this kid has any psychological damage, considering he looked so stoned/smashed on TV that he probably doesn't even remember what happened. SO...What has he lost from this situation, he got moved to a better seat in the arena, and has been on TV. The only thing I could see that would have been damaged is his jersey, and if so, I think Rypien would be happy to buy him another $300 jersey.

If this kids case is even heard in court I'll have lost all respect for the US Judicial system.

Let's tone it down a notch.

There's no evidence that the kid yelling was drunk, stoned, or whatever.

More than likely, some shitbag lawyer found the kid, and told him he could sue Rypien and get paid for what happened. It's like ambulance chasing, only with famous people. Not like that ever happens...

I doubt this goes anywhere.

Nothing is going to happen, Rypien will pay a certain amount that a chunk will go to the kids lawyer and that will be that.

I doubt it even gets that far.
