I doubt it. While the sale my be complete and both sides sign off on the deal, Golisano may walk away and let the team go, but, for Pegula to take full ownership (to announce it) he needs it approved by the NHL owners and i believe it's one of those votes where you must do it in person. That is one reason why all these sites keep saying all-star weekend because they will vote him in then. I would guess the Monday after the ASG is when the conference will take place.

I was thinking it would happen around the All-star game since that is when Terry would be introduced at the BOG. That is probably the last "i" to dot

yep... bandits, sabres and i think BTG makes a bunch of cash of of the HSBC events... you know the ones where they sell you the whole seat but you only need the edge... I could be wrong on the events... but im pretty sure its all packaged up...

Nope, you're right.

They get the Bandits, who make good money for an NLL team, and run all the arena events. So yea, they make money off lots of stuff down there.

Since the Bandits have an operating budget that comes up under $1M annually (I think that's what I read...could be closer to $750K) and they routinely sell out the building and do NHL-level sales in concessions and merchandise, the Bandits make a TON of money for Western New York Hockey LLC.

When Pegula looks over all the ledgers and sees what the Bandits do revenue vs profit, he's gonna be very happy.

This is exactly why the 7.5M the Sabres REPORTEDLY lose every year, allows BTG to still operate making a profit. Gotta figure the Bandits do about 4.5M in profit, and the other events have to do at least that. So worst case scenario for BTG is making 1.5M a year; and that is absolute worst case scenario.

Haha poor Paychex employees. Pegula is all, "That's my box now. GET OUTTA MY BOX!"

Don't forget the tax write-off :shhh:

Glad to see the sale looks to be almost a done deal, now.

John Borsa from WKBW just tweeted about two minutes ago:

Sources: Sale of #Buffalo #Sabres is coming soon. More on @WKBW at Noon.

It was rumored to be announced today. Perhaps we should start a "Pegula Sale Watch" thread.

Buffalo Rising has NEVER broken a major story about anything, so I took their leak with ten pounds of salt. But Borsa has been tracking the progress of the sale, so that he's saying it's gonna be soon has me excited.

Yeah, the whole 'it will be announced Monday' thing stemmed from the Mendola report about Paychex employees.

But, we'll see. Lots of chatter about it from a lot of different angles.

Just read a post on Twitter that said Bettman was flying into Buffalo today. Not sure who the guy is and how he knows.

EDIT: Supposedly, he heard it on WGR this morning.

More than one person is repeating the WGR report of Bettman coming to Buffalo today.

However, it's not on their website, nor have they sent out an email about it, which they usually do.

Until WGR says something concrete, I'm skeptical. But Borsa said he'd have details at noon, so I'll be paying attention in 30 mins

Jeremy White just refuted that WGR is reporting the Bettman story via his Twitter.
