ya cant hate on us. we were named the number 1 sports city in the USA. we loves our sports.

I don't hate on Detroit, the city. Rust belt sticks together (except Pittsburgh...fuck em). But the Red Wings? Meh.

i get ya. but we are an over saturated market. the way they run that front office, its a great way to run a team. the fans.. its weird. not fair weather really, people pay attention. i just think its such a forgone conclusion that the wings are gonna win their division, people dont really start to turn it on till april. which is silly, but it is what it is. that season was weird. when i worked for TM.. always tickets available. i looked for conference finals tickets for shits and giggles, and it was 95 bucks for the top row per ticket. who the fuck wants to pay that?!

Like I said, pricing fans out. How is that the practice of a model franchise? They need to analyze the market and adjust ticket prices accordingly...it's one thing the Sabres really do right (for the most part).

I see the point that Phil is making. You can't say a franchise is a model when at the same time admitting that they price their own fans out of the building. The two just don't jive.

no, i agree with that point. but at the same time, players are willing to take pay cuts to stay with the team. so i mean, in that way, its run pretty damn well.

See we're talking apples and oranges. I'm talking business side...you're talking hockey operations. I wouldn't dare talk shit about hockey operations.

When you win as much as they do, it't not hard to convince people to stay.

i dunno, the only thing i can tell you is to take in a game of a detroit sports team some day. i suggest a tigers game. detroit is, and always will be, a tiger town first. opening day here is a freaking holiday.

but not a pistons game. no one gives two shits about the pistons anymore.
