Myers fucked him up but good

http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/news/story?id=6093031

Quote:
"Evgeni Malkin had an MRI this morning," Bylsma said. "The results show that he has a torn MCL and ACL. At this point in time we are discussing options with the doctors on what to do next. ...

"Surgery is a possibility. I'm not sure if there is a rehab possibility. But right now I just got the news on the MRI," Bylsma said.

Wasn't a bad hit by any means. Really just fell awkward to the ice against Malkins knee

Serves him and the Penguins right for never making strength training a part of his off season regimen. He's a skinny little bitch who gets knocked down too easy, sooner or later a freak accident like that was going to happen.

Myers played a whale of a game BTW.

It's going to be interesting to see how much success the Penguins have in the playoffs without Malkin. The better they do, the more likely they will trade him in the summer, and I imagine his stock will be at an all-time low.

Myers hit on Kunitz was much worse. I'm thinking we're kind of lucky he didn't get hurt, because that could have been called boarding.

I liked his game, though.

You mean on Kunitz? He effing destoryed Kunitz lol. The only one on Mad Max I can recall was when he simply braced for impact and talbot went flying. That was the subway sandwich of the game on the Penguins feed lol. Myers is fucking God.

I was surprised he didn't get called for boarding on that hit. That was very marginal but no call. Myers definitely stepped up his game lately is showing signs of last season.

There goes the trade for Pominville. ;)

On a serious note, this really sucks for him. Not only does he miss the rest of the season, but there's good chance a big guy like him will end up having chronic knee pain for the rest of his life if he gets reconstructive surgery, which I'd be willing to bet the house he will. ACL or MCL tears are a mjaor deal, both has gotta fucking suck.

He's very young, i doubt this will have a debilitating effect on his entire career. I always said that if he added more muscle mass he wouldn't get knocked down so easily all the time but year after year he shows up looking like the Scarecrow from WoO.

Bobby Orr would like a word with you then.

Ok, I know technology on knee injuries and surgery are vastly improved, but he had knee problems at a young age and it ruined his career, ok, shortened his career drastically.

ACL and MCL tear is about the worst knee blow out you can do. MCL and PCL is bad too, ACL alone is terrible, but adding in the MCL, see you in 9-12 months, depending on the total damage done, could be longer to fully rehab it, if it ever totally heals. Don't be shocked to see Pittsburgh eating that contract, or buying it out after another year or so. That's a tough trade to sell anyone now.

Now maybe we could just trade Niedermayer for Malkin. They should both produce about the same for the rest of the season.

Same goals, sure, but I still think Nieds is doing a fine job for a 3rd line forward, heck he's got 12 assists, more than Matt Ellis would have, and thats pretty much Matt Ellis' spot he took.

I think that's the same injury that happened to Jerry Rice. Different sports, but he never seemed quite the same after that.

Pommers, Timmy and a 2nd... lol call 'em now... i'll roll the dice on an injured malkin ... let him and roy rehab... if we can sit on timmy for over a year with a busted noodle, ill easily sit on malkin with a busted knee...

Ellis never played 3rd line center, he mostly played 4th line LW and got half the minutes Nieds has so far.

He's doing a horrible job as a 3rd line forward. The guy doesn't go to dirty areas and he can't control the puck for shit. He doesn't do much.

I think as long as they aren't on IR you can trade them. Once they go on IR, they can't be traded yet.
