Hockey sweater related tidbit which Ron MacLean just brought up; The 1971 Habs were the last team to wear wool sweaters. All other teams were wearing the new Dureen fabric sweaters.

I have one of the Roger Edward Sabres acrylic/woolies and wore that one game. Between itching like mad and sweating my hole off, I thought I was going to die. I couldn't imagine wearing one of them sweaters back in the day for every game.

In an age where players are called out for not respecting each other, I found this to be a very classy move by both the Habs and Flames. The Penguins couldn’t get off the ice faster after the Caps beat them in their own back yard at the WC. With their golden boy not able to lead them to victory, for them to leave the ice without shaking hands was kind of like them taking their puck & net and going home, all pissy, snotty & stuff because they lost.

Now even though the rivalry isn’t as strong between the Habs and Flames as it is between the Pens and Caps, it is still an important gesture. I’m not saying they should do this after every single regular season game, but at an event like this it is a sign of respect that most fans appreciate to see and gives the game more credibility & class.
