apparently, apple isnt releasing an iphone5 this spring/fall. its been pushed back because apple is pushing cloud based software.

I just upgraded to the iPhone 3GS at AT&T because they're basically giving them away. I really like how easy to use the e-mail feature is. I'm still getting used to the touch screen.

It's going far beyond that. iOS 5 is supposed to be a pretty big overhaul.

Additionally, it sounds like Apple wants to include LTE in the next Verizon iPhone.

Makes sense to me if that's the case.

Pushing it off until the end of 2011 definitely makes sense if they want to wait for LTE. Putting an LTE phone out in the summer wouldn't have made sense, but doing it later on the the Verizon buildout cycle definitely does.

Not sure I can wait that long though. My 3GS battery barely makes it past lunch with light usage. I might have to pull the trigger sooner rather than later.

are you switching to verizon, tom? couldnt you get a new 3GS for cheap to hold you over?

My long term plan was to go to Verizon. I was going to wait until the summer and switch when the 5 came out, but if it's going to be 6-8 months from today, I can't wait that long.

Even though the 3GS is on sale for like $50 with AT&T, they still make you re-up on a 2 year, and I don't want to do that. I'm out of my last contract right now, back on month to month.

i have an old original iphone if need be. its just sitting in my desk, so i mean..

Thanks, but I couldn't deal with the 2G iPhone. I log into things for work on it, and I couldn't get anything done on 2G.

Probably just going to go get the 4 on Verizon. Not a total loss. I might regret it if they go LTE in the fall, but since Buffalo won't have LTE until 2012, I'll probably be ok with it.

I just don't want to buy a new battery and open up my phone just to put off something I'm going to do in 6 months anyways.

I think people used to sell SIM cards on eBay for this exact reason. Wouldn't work as a phone, but it would at least get you past the activation steps so you could use it as an iPod.

You better hurry up if you want unlimited data then Tom. Not sure when Verizon is going to tiered dat plan structure but it's going to be soon.

Yeah, I know. I'm at the point that it will probably be this weekend. I've reached my wits end with battery life on this. It was great for a long time, but has just dropped off so much.
