Found a full apartment on the beach in San Francisco down the road from the Golden Gate Bridge for $60 a night. Scoooore. Staying there the last three nights of vacation in August to finish up the trip and couchsurfing the first five (which is free and something I've wanted to do for a few years now).

Strong rumors are flying that Metallica will be playing Halifax July 14th on Citadel Hill.

Not that I think everyone in this country should speak only English or anything, but I cannot stand listening to people speaking in foreign languages, like a full out conversation. It's like constant fucking jibberish and it's just so annoying not being able to understand what the conversation

I think Spanish is being pushed too hard in this country. I know enough Spanish to hold a conversation, and, to be quite honest, it's worthless. I never need it.

if you would go down to Miami for example, the Spanish language is a majority, and English the minority

Yeah, was gonna say, true up here where there isn't a lot of diversity, but probably handy once in a while down south.

So, my boyfriend's roommates threw a party for one of them who was celebrating his birthday. Later in the night, my boyfriend and I were in his room and with the way the upstairs works, there's three doors real close together. Basically, to the left and right are the bedrooms and straight ahead is the bathroom. This is all in a relatively small area.

One kid starts banging on the bathroom door and it was shaking our door and it was just fucking obnoxious. So, I opened the door and just politely asked if he could stop because it was really loud. The fucking douche gives me an attitude about it and acts like a fucking cunt, saying things like, "I wasn't knocking on your door, so don't worry about it." I just told him to shut the fuck up and to stop acting like a prick and slammed the door shut. I was so fucking annoyed at this point that I seriously wanted to punch this fuck in the face.

Fast forward into the night, and it's like 3:15 in the morning and no one's here. My boyfriend and I went downstairs to see the damage and the house was absolutely trashed. We came back upstairs to brush our teeth and we find his toothbrush missing, along with two hand towels. Also, the toothpaste was on the floor near some beer cans and the bag in the garbage can was missing. We're like, WTF? We started looking for the stuff to no avail. Someone had obviously used the shower and my stuff was used (girl?), but no sign of puke or anything.

Two people we know came over and we're talking to them; in the meantime, my boyfriend goes upstairs and finds this random girl in the corner of his roommate's room, sleeping sitting up with her head on his futon. All of us go into the room and we find this girl has her pants (and panties) around her knees and she's sitting bare assed on the floor. We asked if she was okay, she said yes. We asked if she puked, she said no. Then, we find the garbage bag with the toothbrush and one of the hand towels, covered in puke. We solved that mystery. I was refusing to let this girl be alone. She was so fucked up. Beyond drunk and sick.

I had no idea who this girl was and actually find out that it was the fuck face's girlfriend! I was so disgusted that he left his girlfriend alone like that and is further evidence that he's an asshole. I've seen her go to the bathroom since then, but I have no idea if he has come back for her or not. So weird.

Sorry, that was long. I had to get that out.

Well I don't see why it would in the USA? It's definitely not being pushed "too hard". If anything, the idea of making sure that everyone in this country is fluent in English is what is being pushed too hard.

Erm... wha? The correct usage of our language is being pushed too hard? I don't follow.

No I'm talking about people who are against people who live in the States who speak their native language (that isn't English, obviously). There are a lot of people against people who don't speak English.

This. I'm actually writing a paper right now for class on how we actually need to improve foreign language in America. Seriously, look at many other countries, and you'll find that many people can speak more than one language fluently. Comparatively, few people in America can speak more than one language fluently. Many Americans seem to have this... almost arrogance that speaking other languages is "beneath" them or something. This idea that "oh English is the best language ever, and everyone should speak it and nothing else!"

Yeah... no.

Oh, I see. You had me confused for a moment there.

I think it's important for anyone who moves to a foreign country to learn the native language, but I definitely don't expect it to be perfect. I understand learning a new language (particularly English), is extremely tough, you have to give people time.

In St. Petersburg, Russia, most public employees speak excellent English, and there are signs in English, all to accommodate tourists. We can't do the same for those who live here.

I... don't like it, really.
