I hate holidays. Move across the country, leave all your friends behind, be 12 hours from family, be a stay at home dad and be 20 years younger than all your neighbors. Not a whole lot going on today....though I can hear at least three pool parties happening within a block from here. Ugh.

Short life update since I've fallen out of touch with a few here:

Will be moving to the Redmond/Seattle area in late August. Partner will be working for Microsoft for a significant chunk of change. As for myself, I don't know where my career is headed. I took a reasonably well paying job well outside my schooling to get off unemployment, pay my bills, and build my accounts, but I hate the work. With R74 being voted on in November, being politically active seems likely.

A part of me is secretly thrilled to be leaving New York behind. This state seems to do everything possible to encourage its residents to leave, and Washington will be better for my partner and myself.

All the best to you & yours, Alex! It may or may not be the most ideal situation, but here’s to hoping you folks make the best of it!

Just, for the love of Ruff, don't become a Sharks, Ducks or Kings fans in the process. :P

All the very best, man!

Thanks Don and Tom. Definitely thrilled about the move. Seattle is very liberal, very dog friendly, and bordering on some serious rurality. Looking forward to being able to go to pro baseball for cheap, MLS soccer, and probably getting Thunderbirds season tickets if the commute isn't too bad. I think there will be more career opportunities out there for me too, depending on what I want to do with my life.

Summer is a good time to be moving there. I'll get in touch if I'm ever planning on going to a Marners' game. Also, as far as the Thunderbirds, if you end up north of the city, there's the Everett Silvertips too.

Seattle and the surrounding area are beautiful. I was stationed there and really enjoyed my time there. I actually met my wife, got married and had our honeymoon up in Port Townsend. Hope you guys like it up there and say hi to Mt. Ranier for me.

I need a break. Had my parents here for a week and right when they pulled out of the driveway my neighbor came over and asked if her four kids could stay here because her brother, who she lives with, has gone bananas and was yelling at everyone. Not sure of the whole story but needless to say I just want a fucking day without a shit ton of people in my house.

Tell the neighbor you are going to buy a pig the next day. But instead don't buy a pig and yoink that piggy right put from under him. Let the pig live!

As of July 26th, I'm a free agent. The plan to move to PEI & join that center has fallen through and there is nothing in this town for me in terms of work. If a relocation of any type is to take place, it now has to be within province because of the limitations set by my other half's employer (Mother FUCK EHS Nova Scotia).

I have no idea what I'm going to do but hopefully something pans out soon. The stress of all of this has been bringing many a sleepless night and has caused some serious tension at home as of late. It's also starting to have an effect on my health. It feels like I have a load of bricks on my chest at times.

Anyone have the winning numbers for the lotto kicking around? I'm willing to go splits…

Surely she could get a similar job in Ontario, no? I ask because I can put you in touch with people in Markham (NW Toronto) who could probably use you for the same type of work you are doing today.
Also, provincial taxes in Ontario are WAY lower than those in Nova Scotia.
PM me if you're interested.

That's not a bad idea. Mike's right that it will happen again. It already got out on the 4th but the neighbors were home and we saw the wife as well as our diagonal neighbors chasing it down. It gets out when they're not home and it's a milkbone.

I did call animal control Tuesday and the woman I talked to said she had heard about the first pig on the news. So it was on the news that these fucks had a pig killed by their dogs, and they still went out and got another one less than a month later. But of course she sais if it's their pig, and their dogs, there's NOTHING they can do about it. I can make a noise complaint about barking dogs, that's my only option. I feel so fucking angry and powerless.

Stuuuu, I cant find the pages where you tell the original story, so from what i'm hearing they had a pig which got eaten by their dogs, were on the news for it, and are now doing it again. What kind of dogs are they? What kind of pig? Is it the kind that stays small, or is it going to get big? Is it only vulnerable to the dogs while it's a piglet? Would it be safe after a certain age?

Just trying to get a feel for the problem. From what i've heard so far i'm gonna have to advocate neighborhood quasi-vigilantism. A pig-snatching might be in order. I'd say set up a safe place for the pig to go, like, some farm of something which will take it. Then wait till the next opportunity you have to grab the pig when it gets out, (making sure you're not seen...) grab it, get it to the safe spot. Viola.
