They're going to have to buy him out, or send him down.

The key to being competitive, for a great number of teams (like: ALL THE ONES WHO WANT TO WIN THE STANLEY CUP) is having their players arrive at camp in top shape - No longer are they afforded the luxury of using camp to shed pounds, begin a conditioning regimen and shake out the cobwebs. Camp is about fine-tuning your timing.

Every year, more and more athletes are using the off-season to get stronger and faster - To show up looking like you've been loafing around, sucking beer and getting fat on mama's cooking is such an enormous handicap, and reflects an indifference and a defiance that are highly undesirable.

When are these highly paid professionals going to realize that it is a full time job. The professional athletes who work and breathe their sport, their team (like the Yankees or not (love the Yankees), like Derek Jeter, or Melky, or Tex) will always be the best. Physical, mental, emotional, and mechanical conditioning are full time, year around, and plenty of overtime aspects of team oriented success. Seems like these guys have fallen short.....Hope something changes or it's going to be a long season with plenty of wasted tequila......

i agree completely....seems as if some players decide to lolligag for a year or more once they get that fat contract....imo, a team should be able to terminate a contract at any time due to poor performance....might make them player a bit harder, eh ?

Manning the machine gun on the Tyler Myers Bandwagon - just in case any teams have an idea of prying him away from us (3 GM's shot already)

they said they'd make room for myers if they deem him to stay up. hopefully if say, ennis, gerbe, gogulla, or kennedy can prove they belong up full time and hecht sucks, they'll do the same and keep them up. personally if hecht sucks that much i'm sure fans really wouldn't mind losing him for nothing if another team claimed him, plus i'm sure many fans would love the cap space.

in all honesty, hecht wasn't too bad tonight. He kept up with the rest of em so he didn't seem too out of shape and he actually hit a few people and tried. I couldn't really complain about him, but one game doesn't change my opinion on him so we'll see how the first few games of the season go.

Hecht was arguably in midseason 2005-06 form last night. He was all over the boards, worked hard down low...and he even skated around Clark once, and got a good shot on goal...actually hit the goalie too! I may have to pull out the ole 55 Black and Red jersey...

If he just tries, he will be an improvement over his incarnation of 08-09..........

Unrealistic dreams I know.

But that is what most are anyways.

Anyone else see this? http://www.buffalonews.com/buffalosabres/story/805374.html

What a fucking pathetic puff piece by John Vogl of the Buffalo News...pathetic. "Hecht went to Spain with his family and has learned to smile again. He is trying to have more fun and get his confidence back."

Fuck, no wonder the newspaper business is going under. He wrote the exact same warm-fuzzy shit about Tallinder last week. WTF? Fire this douche, and whoever else is responsible for this bullshit fluff, and get someone on the beat who can provide some fucking substance that's worth reading.
