The big bad Wings look like they are back down to earth now.

5 - 2 final, Oil over Wings.

NJ over Boston 2 - 1.

Tampa beat Ottawa 5 - 2 or 5 - 3.

Nashville over Chicago, and Phoenix over St. Louis, both 2 - 0.

Detroit may indeed need to finally upgrade their goaltending....

Penner has a goal and three assists in the game..... Maybe Lowe didn't end up with the consolation prize by not getting Vanek.

I have really been dissapointed with Vanek's play thus far. Still, it's a long season, so hopefully he gets it going.

Oilers are buzzing the net, Howard just had a string of good saves. Literally going to the shoot out as we speak. How do you blow a 5-1 Lead?

You just can't count out the Redwings at all still.

Better goaltending and they are what they have been for years, a powerhouse.

the red wings didnt get good goaltending last year. osgood is probably the worst starting goalie in the NHL, and was last year as well.

howard is a huge talent. the kid has been stuck in the AHL for far too long. hes a hell of a goalie. and he reminds me alot of another american goalie, ryan miller. give howard some more starts, let him get used to NHL pace. hes going to be a very very good goalie.

Datsyuk, Zetterberg and Holmstrom are getting up there in years, their numbers will start to decline. Time to use that vaunted wings draft prowess and dig deep into the 7th round...

You can only strike gold so many times. On the old boards I started a topic about how the salary cap will eventually catch up with Detroit. That might not be the case so far aside from losing Hossa, but injuries and players slumps are taking an early toll.
