I've told you to listen to Baroness, right? Both the blue and red albums are GREAT! Isak is pretty nifty, as is Horse Named Golgotha.

I can't remember if you told me to look them up or not. Last.fm recommended them to me, and I'm really liking everything I've heard. I'll have to look into picking up the Red and Blue records, maybe First and Second, too.

They were in Buffalo on Sunday. If I knew you liked 'em, I'd have told you.

That would have made this past week much better than it was.

I do believe it is impossible not to dance to most/all songs, at least for me, but there are some from the late '70s that are just... good luck.

In other news, I've got absolutely nooooo motivation to write this five-page paper. Or finish researching for it. Due tomorrow, of course. Umm.

I have an unusual hesitance to click the "Install" button on my Ubuntu installer. I don't know what it is. Might be my never having regularly used anything but Windows (and MS-DOS before that) my whole life. My brother raves about Ubuntu, and I know X, Rob, and Brian would approve. I'm just not sure yet. Maybe it's cuz I don't wanna reboot yet - I'll wait til the end of the period haha.

Is anyone less funny, less talented than Jimmy Fallon? I mean as far as an on air personality? Makes that ass kissing Arsenio Hall seem brilliant by comparison....

Well, Ubuntu is lightning fast and looks plenty appealing, but I can't get any SWF plugins installed. Oh help me, computer nerds of the Junkie!

Poor Martin Van Buren. Andrew Jackson gets all the credit for everything that he did. Dude built the Democratic Party from the ground up, completely innovated the system.

Fun fact: a girl in my high school graduating class is a descendant of Thomas Ritchie. I'm a descendant of Martin Van Buren. The two corresponded with letters while Ritchie was the most well-known Democratic spokesperson in Virginia and Van Buren a senator of New York. It was part of Van Buren's scheme. The day we discovered this in high school was probably the best day ever. Close to it.

Yeeeaaaah, writing a paper on Van Buren right now 'cause I'm descended from him, I lived in the same town he did, and he's responsible for the saying "OK." (Old Kinderhook)

WHENEVER Richard Cory went down town,
We people on the pavement looked at him:
He was a gentleman from sole to crown,
Clean favored, and imperially slim.

And he was always quietly arrayed,
And he was always human when he talked;
But still he fluttered pulses when he said,
"Good-morning," and he glittered when he walked.

And he was rich—yes, richer than a king,
And admirably schooled in every grace:
In fine, we thought that he was everything
To make us wish that we were in his place.

So on we worked, and waited for the light,
And went without the meat, and cursed the bread;
And Richard Cory, one calm summer night,
Went home and put a bullet through his head.

Oy! I have a test in 7 hours, and I would like to wake up a few hours early to study for it, but I can't sleep. I would study now, but I can't concentrate. Argh!

I'mma get two hours of sleep if I'm lucky.

Whateva. I never sleep, anyway. Average is like four hours a night. Even if I do go to bed around midnight or whatever some nights, I can never sleep and end up just laying there for an hour and a half before I give up and go online till 4:00 or 5:00 in the morning. Body is far too accustomed to that bedtime or something. Had issues sleeping over the summer, but worked night shift figuring that it was the best since am basically naturally nocturnal, and that's notorious for messing with people's sleep, sooo... but then also have a history of that going back six years, except then it was more like "Let's stay awake for three days in a row and only sleep after taking way too much medication stolen out of the medicine cabinet! Woo hoo!" aaaand that sucked because insomnia has to be the single most frustrating thing in the world, and also I was a very stupid child sometimes but would probably still be stupid today 'cause like I said, it's ridiculously frustrating and anybody'd do literally anything at some point; everybody's got that breaking point. I donut no. Just rambling to keep from having to work on my paper.

Can't wait to be home for a month so that I can just wander aimlessly around the house instead of having one and only one entertainment option late at night. At least tonight I'm getting stuff done.

Just two more weeks! :D

They say that Richard Cory owns one half of this whole town,
With political connections to spread his wealth around.
Born into society, a banker's only child,
He had everything a man could want: power, grace, and style.

But I - I work in his factory
And I curse the life I'm living
And I curse my morphology
And I wish that I could be,
Oh, I wish that I could be,
Oh, I wish that I could be
Richard Cory.

The papers print his picture almost everywhere he goes:
Richard Cory at the opera, Richard Cory at a show.
And the rumor of his parties and the orgies on his yacht!
Oh, he surely must be happy with everything he's got.

But I - I work in his factory
And I curse the life I'm living
And I curse my morphology
And I wish that I could be,
Oh, I wish that I could be,
Oh, I wish that I could be
Richard Cory.

He freely gave to charity, he had the common touch,
And they were grateful for his patronage and thanked him very much,
So my mind was filled with wonder when the evening headlines read:
"Richard Cory went home last night and put a bullet through his head."

But I - I work in his factory
And I curse the life I'm living
And I curse my morphology
And I wish that I could be,
Oh, I wish that I could be,
Oh, I wish that I could be
Richard Cory.
