Has anyone mentioned that the CEO's of these these(soon to be) mandated "too big to fail" HMO's have been "officially warned" not to be too greedy. The official legal position: we'll let ya write any check in the universe for bonuses, and let the media handle the rest.

Fucking brilliant.

I honestly cannot tell if you're being sarcastic or insane.

One should always be skeptical and resistant to government taking power and liberty from its citizens.

Why aren't you?

Excuse me? If i'm not too paranoid to believe that my government might actually give a shit about supplying adaquate and affordable healthcare to it's citizens then i'm not skeptical and resistant enough?

Really cross?

Nice, so basically we've just done away with the middle ground of politics, lets just get rid of rationality and thoughtful consideration in favor of blasting FOX "NEWS" talking points out of our worthless infantile mouths instead. Nice plan ya got there.

Christ, look at the fucking state of conversation in this country, if you're not willing to take one of the extreme left or right positions, then you're probably also not yelling loud enough to be heard. Bullshit.

You trust the Federal government with your health care?

That's obviously your prerogative, but the last time I checked the Federal government was run by the lowest, back-stabbing, sniveling bastards ever collected on the face of the earth...American politicians.
They care about power, money and how to get re-elected....not whether you have the best health care they can provide.

As opposed to insurance companies, which care about profits....not whether you have the best health care they can provide.

Far more than I do the insurance companies and HMOs. Unfortunately, if the health care debate has shown us anything it is that the medical industry has congress deep in their poclkets.

Then why does the Federal government deny more insurance claims than any private insurer?
By both volume and as a percentage.

Please.

Ham

but the average person has no say in a corporation. They are designed purely to make money and not to benefit the well-being of society.

Government, on the other hand, is something that, at least ideally, the average person does have a say in, and can help to change. Government is also supposed to "promote the general welfare" of the nation. So while the government can mandate something, you have more of a say on their actions than on a corporation's actions.

Given my voting district, I have as much say in government as I do for any corporation.

Hell, my REI membership gives me more control of that corporation than I have over my local and state government.
