Every team can get better no matter how many goals they scored or how many the prevented.

Some of the biggest scoring teams do not have the defense capable of winning tight on goal games.

Tampa is the first in many losses this month. Sorry folks, but the magic can't last, not without some changes. I am calling this part of the schedule the beginning of the tail slide for this team. I just can't see Ryan continuing on this course.

I hope and pray they prove me wrong, but I have a very, very, very bad feeling about this month and the schedule.

I actually still believe a trade should be made to bring in some stable scoring.
How do you know a trade would help this team anymore than a player that we have turning it around?

How can you be so sure a trade may not help?

It could it just depends on alot of variables. Like who is traded? How does it affect the chemistry of the team, and can they adapt to our system? How does it affect the future of the team by trading prospects? Does the player or players fit the cap? It's not as easy as everyone thinks, but if the right player is brought in it would work. All I'm sayin is let's just be happy with the team, not every trade works hence Marion Hossa.

You can never go wrong with a draft pick unless the people that draft suck.

Hecht is quietly putting together a very nice season. Guy's been great on both ends of the ice, he's created some good chances and buried chances when they've come to him.

Or he's completely useless. One of those two, whatever.

Hecht has seriously brought the swagger back to Jochentown.

Could the reason for this be that he was snubbed from the German Olympic Team for Phillip Gogulla one of our very own Portland Pirate?

That might be what drives him now, but his season was shaping up nicely after a first coupla shaky weeks. The line of Hecht-Connolly-Pominville needs to stay together because it's seriously clicking, and Hecht is a huge part of that.

It's the grinder - playmaker - scorer combo on every line that should make everybody stick to a simple approach and just get pucks on net. That's what I really liked about last night, and even the TB announcers mentioned it - that Buffalo was doing anything to get pucks on net and then crashing for rebounds.

Simple, ugly, but very effective.

That's why the current scoring lines are working so well: Hecht-Connolly-Pominville, Mac-Roy-Stafford, and Vanek-Kennedy-Grier.

Typical Buffalo sports fan:

This year I'm not getting sucked in. I know the Bills/Sabres are going to suck.

(Team wins a few games)

Sure, it seems they are playing well, but I know that fundamentally they suck.

(Team wins a few more games)

Hey, maybe this year is different.

(Team starts to show some real promise)

Wow, did you see the Bills/Sabres? This might actually be the year!

(Team blows it and sinks back into mediocrity)

%*&@#! These guys suck!

We get your point Carruba, it's just we have the right to disagree with you and rebuttal our points. That's why we join message boards, to express our feelings about the given subject. Like other people have said, if we're going to all be happy-feel-good fans all the time, then this place would be pretty boring. And what Slesh believes is we could still use an upgrade, as do majority of us in here. It would help us greatly if we get the appropriate player.

Sure we're finding the goals now, which I am glad about, but we could still just as easily slip back into the hole we were in before where we're winning games 2-1 or 3-2. These tight wins are nice, but it's always good to have some insurance in a game in an instance like last night where our goaltender is having a shaky game.

I'm going to agree with you as well to though and say I am proud of how we're able to win games when they're on the line by having equal opportunity scoring from everyone. That shows great character on a team and makes it that much harder to beat them. Then with our tight D and great goaltending we're in really good shape and that's the reason why we're 2nd in the East.

BTW, love your post Zilla. Sums up the life of Buffalo sports fan to perfection.

I like the increased scoring, as of late, but they've also gotten a little loose defensively. Too many odd-man rushes and guys left open in the slot. They need to find a way to mesh their altered offensive strategy with a continuation of their sound defensive game.
