Courtesy of Sportsnet.ca:

Blackhawks' Burish out 6 months

"CHICAGO -- Chicago Blackhawks right-winger Adam Burish will be out for six months after tearing the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee during a pre-season game against Minnesota on Sunday."

And, courtesy of The Hockey News:

Avalanche defenceman Preissing out four to six weeks after knee scope

"DENVER - The Colorado Avalanche will be without Tom Preissing for four to six weeks after the defenceman had a scope done on his right knee.

The Avalanche acquired Preissing, along with defenceman Kyle Quincey, in a deal that sent Ryan Smyth to the Los Angeles Kings during the off-season."

...and so it goes. Preseason injuries are terribly disheartening, and becoming more frequent. Though I'm not sure that Preissing wasn't suffering from an undiagnosed pre-existing condition.

That sucks, but as long as they aren't wearing Sabres sweaters, it sucks a lot less.

Ouch, that really sucks. Not sure how bad it hampers hockey players but QB's and RB's are never the same when they tear their ACl's or MCL's.

Especially ACL's. Don't forget though; Thurman Thomas wore a brace as his ACL was torn playing pick up basketball in 1986!

Depends on the individuals physiology.

And how bad the tear was or is.

I hate to say I never saw Thurman Thomas play, he was before my time basically or I was much too young to remember, so I had no idea about that.

How would that be possible, the ACL holds your knee together same with the MCL.

That is a fair question. I will ask Thurman that, so we can make sure we're dealing with facts, and not speculation.

Alright cool, because I don't think it would be possible to walk with an ACL. But if he didn't then WOW.

It was indeed a partially torn ACL; though he had to wear the brace to insure he incurred no further damage to the ACL, he said.

I knew that, so I have no idea what I was thinking..... Too many hours spent at ETC's Pub to think clearly........ :shifty:
