i never thought i'd be saying this but i want the cold weather to come quickly. freeze the ground to stop all these flooded basement calls. 6AM - till now.
Been there, done that today. Fortunately, it was not necessary to have professional help to get rid of the 6" of standing water this morning. What f*cking mess!
To top it off, while I was headed to Home Depot after my action-packed day (car inspection at 8 am on barely three hours of sleep, then flooded basement), I was witness to a horrifying sight: a kitty who'd been run over and was still alive (I went back to try to help it), was brutally, barbarically run over right in front of me. I was so shaken, I sat on the side of the road for about 15 minutes sobbing my heart out for this poor little kitty who was someone's pet, while trying to regain my composure to be able to drive.
Then I got pissed at the irresponsible owner who let their cat run free so I had to witness this horrific, tragic chain of events. I can't even begin to describe the sound it made on impact and the image imprinted on my mind. On my way back, I drove around the sight because I was so sickened by what I'd witnessed, I just couldn't bear to go back there. Then I turned around to check to see if someone picked up this poor, mangled creature instead of just leaving him there. He was picked up by someone. I had gone to a couple of houses in the area to see if anyone was missing a cat. I saw a young girl on the street before I was able to turn around and asked her if she was missing a cat. When I came back the second time, she was there with a friend, calling someone to see if "Bandit" (their cat) was around, because she couldn't tell if it was the cat she was referring to.
