See the "seething religion thread"

Wouldn't it be better to find out in there, to read the interpretations of the "message of god" from true believers?

If the thread wasn't jacked, Cross was locking it down, anyway. It should not have been started to begin with since it's just a belligerent grievance directed at another thread. This should have been handled civilly as a complaint via PM as SATW suggested at the beginning.

Wrong. My actual intent was to attempt to not let the standard be set that christians get some special protected status that other people/beliefs/institutions do NOT. Foolish of me, probably, but it at least seems like a pretty glaring double standard to me.

As I told Schony earlier, Ive been debating about whether or not I should create this.

It is my intention while starting this thread for it to be serious discussions, about Bible Verses and Interpretations of those verses. And other things. This is for the Christians to come together and talk about it, any non-Christians are welcome to comment and post as long as they are serious and wont hijack the thread. I already have Schony's discretion on this topic.

So basically I see this thread as a Online Bible Devotion or Bible study kinda thing.

It appears here, that the new mod Sabresalltheway, has made a declaration that the christian thread will NOT be hijacked. This seems like a new, and rather unsettling precedent to set. Do we have 'authority' figures here telling us that other threads are untouchable? No. Apparently no other view is as important as what the christians on this board believe, and whatever us hell-bound athiests believe will not be tolerated?

I firmly believe in Evolution. I believe in it so fervently that an outside viewer might regard it as a religious view. It at least appears to me, to be as important to me, as the christian god/bible is to christians. HOWEVER, if I start a thread saying "hey, evolutionists, lets talk about evolution!" there is NO FUCKING WAY anyone is going to step in and keep it from being hijacked or derailed. If it gets too heated some mod will come along and lock it, but no one is going to step in and force people to respect my opinions.

I feel like Sabresalltheway really stepped out of bounds with this "warning" to pants, who, ironically, did exactly what the thread indicated he was supposed to do, he quoted bible verses he found interesting for the sake of discussion.

Well I thought it was a great thread to discuss religion so long as we could ignore the age old debate of whether any particular religion has merit or not (which leads to contention), and some of us were not mature enough to do so.

When Homer goes to heaven on a Simpsons Halloween show, he gets to ask any questions he wants, so he asks: "What is the one true religion?"

answer:
"It's a mixture of Voodoo and Methodist".
