I feel like Schoolhouse Rock and Mr. Rogers connect more generations in the US than any other single two things, outside of stuff such as, uh, reading.

Aside: Fred Rogers was such a good man. I've a friend that typed up the foreword his wife wrote in his biography about him so that I could read it. Said friend also wrote him several letters when she was little and saved all of his handwritten replies. I wish that I had done the same.

My parents knew him.
He had a deaf (or hearing impaired) daughter and he and his wife took signing classes with my parents (my brother is 90% deaf).
Of course, I never met him, so all I've got is that lousy story.
