It's funny that people seem to give me shit for saying what I think about Regier but go onto wgr550 or buffalonews.com and see what people have to say about his signing or not doing much. People are just plain sick of him running the team. Do I think he's the worst GM out there. No, not at all but it seems like instead of taking this team forward he moves laterally or backwards.
Have you READ most of the remarks on WGR or TBN's website? I wouldn't say that most of those folks have much of a clue what they're talking about.
clueless fans or not, darcy is still a mediocre, at best, GM.
Right, because mediocre GM's construct two straight ECF appearances, a Presidents Trophy, a couple division titles, a bunch of playoff seasons, drafting a Calder winner while all in a small market.
I can see if you mean you would like to see a GM with a different philosophy, but don't knock the good things Darcy has done here.[/quote]
i won't knock the good things darcys done, but maybe its just me, but it doesn't matter how far you make it if you still lose in the end. i mean, noone outside of western new york cares the bills made it to 4 super bowls in a row, everyone just remembers they lost. this isn't some life lesson for the kiddies, its sports-- winning is all that counts.
and to get to ECF two years in a row and still not get the pieces right to get you to the big show, thats ridiculous. yeah, i know the first year we were FUCKED with injuries and had rookies playing D, but the year after, the pieces just weren't right. we got bounced in 5 games.
and as far as drafting myers, a. i dont know how being a small market has ANYTHING to do with it. b. i didn't know darcy regier was our head talent scout. c. we got reaaally fucking lucky. myers dropped in the draft, and without any help from our organization at all, he was nhl ready within a year from them. but since were not knocking the good things darcy does, good look to him for trading one spot up to make sure our team got the guy they wanted.
also, look at how easily people get fired in this league. pat burns for fucks sake...
