I don't recall Conan giving up on his revenge, the Sabres will win the Cup, and then they will cut some wizards head off and bath in his blood. Metaphorically of course. I mean like the head is a champagne bottle...

That's exactly what this team needs, I just hope he comes to camp in the best shape of his life to try to earn a spot. He had his chance last year and took a step back.

Weber didn't have a chance last season, he overcame a shoulder injury and played himself back into top shape. Now with a solid full season behind him he's in great position to take Lydman's spot. I think he will, but like all young players he'll have his share of mistakes and growing pains.

Have you READ most of the remarks on WGR or TBN's website? I wouldn't say that most of those folks have much of a clue what they're talking about.

clueless fans or not, darcy is still a mediocre, at best, GM.

Right, because mediocre GM's construct two straight ECF appearances, a Presidents Trophy, a couple division titles, a bunch of playoff seasons, drafting a Calder winner while all in a small market.

I can see if you mean you would like to see a GM with a different philosophy, but don't knock the good things Darcy has done here.

You must have forgotten about training camp. He played a handful of games in preseason.

Leopold = younger Tallinder with a bit more scoring touch.
Weber = younger and meaner Lydman with less experience.

I still want another d-man and Stempniak over Stafford, but for now there's no reason to panic.

I hear ya on Stemps. Just as streaky, but when he's on, his on is more on than Stafford's on. Ya on board with what I'm on about? ;)

i won't knock the good things darcys done, but maybe its just me, but it doesn't matter how far you make it if you still lose in the end. i mean, noone outside of western new york cares the bills made it to 4 super bowls in a row, everyone just remembers they lost. this isn't some life lesson for the kiddies, its sports-- winning is all that counts.

and to get to ECF two years in a row and still not get the pieces right to get you to the big show, thats ridiculous. yeah, i know the first year we were FUCKED with injuries and had rookies playing D, but the year after, the pieces just weren't right. we got bounced in 5 games.

and as far as drafting myers, a. i dont know how being a small market has ANYTHING to do with it. b. i didn't know darcy regier was our head talent scout. c. we got reaaally fucking lucky. myers dropped in the draft, and without any help from our organization at all, he was nhl ready within a year from them. but since were not knocking the good things darcy does, good look to him for trading one spot up to make sure our team got the guy they wanted.

also, look at how easily people get fired in this league. pat burns for fucks sake...

MTL 1988–89 80 53 18 9 - 115 1st in Adams Lost in Stanley Cup Finals
MTL 1989–90 80 41 28 11 - 93 3rd in Adams Lost in Second Round
MTL 1990–91 80 39 30 11 - 89 2nd in Adams Lost in Second Round
MTL 1991–92 80 41 28 11 - 93 1st in Adams Lost in Second Round
TOR 1992–93 84 44 29 11 - 99 3rd in Norris Lost in Third Round
TOR 1993–94 84 43 29 12 - 98 2nd in Central Lost in Third Round
TOR 1994–95 48 21 19 8 - 50 4th in Central Lost in First Round
TOR 1995–96 65 25 30 10 - (80) 3rd in Central (fired)

BOS 1997–98 82 39 30 13 - 91 2nd in Northeast Lost in First Round
BOS 1998–99 82 39 30 13 - 91 3rd in Northeast Lost in Second Round
BOS 1999–00 82 24 33 19 6 73 5th in Northeast Did Not Qualify
BOS 2000–01 8 3 4 1 0 (88) 4th in Northeast (fired)

looks like a good run, but for other organizations, good enough isn't ok .

i don't know if regier can get credit for picking myers. i mean yea he gives the final say but he doesn't scout them. i'm sure he looks over things before saying yes but the scouts do the convincing. then myers worked his ass off to get where he is, regier didn't have anything to do with myers working hard. plus kids these days are coming out of juniors very well trained, which is a reflection of work ethic and coaching. just giving credit to where it is due.

Either some desperate gives it to him or he learns his lesson and takes less.

yeah... some of those coaches down in the juniors do incredible jobs with those kids, i mean look at bob boughner. i know the spitfires are always one of the better teams, but god damn. back to back memorial cup and ohl wins. so many of the kids hes been working with for the past 4 years are gonna be awesome once they hit the nhl ice.

I don't know the name of the Sabres' WHL scout, but sabresEH does - that scout should be given credit.
