A few seasons ago I posted a few times, or talked to my friends about how the team needed to be built around Miller. He needed to be the focal point around how the team played. I hoped for a time when they played with a defense first approach and supported him to the point that he didn't have to make saves standing on his head several times a night.

That last two seasons we saw the same scenario over and over...the save-save-goal routine that brought Miller's stats down and showed how pathetic our team defense was. I always thought, with many others, with just an average amount of d-support Miller would shine and finally get the stats and credit for being a top five/top three goalie. Now he's looking like the #1 goalie in the world. I'm not sure that's really the case, but it certainly shows that the coaching staff and the team have finally accepted a style that gives them the best chance to win.

Miller is clearly their best player, and it makes sense to play a style that allows your best player to play his best. It's Miller's team, and with a little scoring help from up front (not that I'm counting on it) we could see a 3rd round playoff series.

Now we just need the squad to play an above average defensive game when someone other than Miller is in net, then we can finally focus on beefing up the front end a little more because we'll have a back end capable of handling itself most of the time.

I can't wait to see what Miller will do in the Olympics if he is doing this good with the Sabres Defense.

I'm sure Team USA's defense will be much better than ours.

Actually Yhoshi, I think he was referring to the leadership of Miller. But if its a team thing, its not the fans team, it Tommy G's team, he owns em.
