If a Sabre comes into contact with Kryptonite, he instantly becomes very weak. With enough exposure, he could die. Kryptonite has this effect because of the way it interacts with Sabres cells.

I just don't get it...its not like they didn't play well enough to win. Unfortunately this reminds me of the years when the Sabres knocked the Sens out of the playoff a couple years in a row. Its obvious that Ottowa is in Buffalo's head and they better fix it quick or it will mean an untimely playoff exit.

If we could just get one win.... JUST ONE WIN in the regular season against them (preferably next game against them) I'd feel a ton more comfortable about the Sabres in the playoffs.

What I hate the most is that I hear from Rob Ray and others on the radio that playoffs will be a different situation. If you cannot beat this team in the regular season which should be easier what makes them think we have a better chance in the playoffs

We aren't going to play Ottawa in the first round I don't think.

If we can't overcome the Ottawa curse or win when needed we don't deserve to win the cup simple as that. The team that can overcome this shit deserves it.

So why was this a needed win for?

I mean we have the divisional all but locked up right now, we only need one win to even clinch a playoff spot, and we have 9 games left in this season. We were on a 4 game winning streak, and lost a close game where we outshot them pretty easily. We always suck against Ottawa, but it doesn't make this game any more of a "Must Win" game.

If we were in 9th it's a must win game. I just want to see a playoff clinch before we must win against the Senators.

I couldn't care if we lost every game against Ottawa for the next 20 years, if we make the playoffs for those 20 years and win a cup, I don't care about Ottawa. This team has a much better shot at a 7 game series than Ottawa right now. You can't only rely on Spezza and Alfie to win in the playoffs for them, and Elliot to play that way for however many straight games.

I agree with everything you said, but in the end its worthless if you can't win when it matters.. I don't think we can count on Vanek this year to be clutch so that leaves us with just the hope that someone will score when its needed and that in my opinion is not enough

Hard to believe Ottawa was missing 3 of their top 4 scorers: Michalek, Fisher and Kovalev.

Coulda fooled me.

Look on the birght side: Score coulda been 6-2.

We've never been able to count on Vanek that much, this year he is just not having a good year. It happens, but our team isn't only having Vanek score this year. I mean, Connolly, Pominville, Vanek, Roy, and Hecht all have real close to 20 goals this year too.

i vote no thread should ever be made involving ottawa, outside a game day thread. no "kill ottawa" threads or "show videos of ottawa" or "ruttu is an idiot" thread when it directly involves the sabres.

none. zero. no exceptions. a game day thread is acceptable, however.

Good try tonight Sabers...I really really really hope we meet you in the playoffs :) Preferably first round. As for tonights game as usual Miller was spectacular as was Pominville....Other than that...we were missing 3 of our top scorers and still gave you a woopin! As a Sens fan, it is looking like we will meet you in the playoffs first round...and if we continue on our winning streak it also looks like we will take the division title from you guys. Its gonna be a great finish...April 10th...I have tickets to the game and I cant wait!

Cheers and Good luck to your team....

I don't doubt that your team does want to us in any round lol.
But, there is going to come a time when the roles are reversed, you won't have Spezza and Alfredson.
That time is not now though. For now, Ottawa has the edge in this battle. Has since the lockout.

But then again, there is always that playoff series Buffalo won, on Pomminvilles OT goal I believe. That can happen again.

Well, one...it would have officially clinched the division but we can do that tonight. Second, we very well meet the Sens in the playoffs and, well, there in lies the problem. If we cannot beat them in the regular season, then it will be almost impossible to beat them in a best of 7. True, the cannot rely on Spezza and Alfie like the Sabres can't rely on Miller but they do....

I've come to expect to never win games against Ottawa. Any playoff series against them will scare the hell out of me... but for now... I'm just thankful we have a game the night after so I don't have to wait for the Sabres to have a chance to redeem themselves. *KNOCK ON WOOD*

Don't let me down guys!

Lindy put it out there in pretty plain language. Read the Buffalo News articles, but basically it comes down to Ottawa playing a disciplined defensive game that the Sabres top six can't handle. The top two lines get frustrated because they don't/can't play physically enough to break through with scoring chances. Then they turn away from the game plan and get fancy, leading to sloppiness and defensive lapses.

Before Clouston Buffalo was never good enough defensively to hold down their skill players. With Clouston Ottawa simply shuts down Buffalo's offense and always has enough offense to score when Buffalo eventually (and predictably) breaks down in their system. Buffalo's skill players are not physical, patient, or mature enough to handle Ottawa's game. That's why they can't beat them, in a nutshell.
