So why was this a needed win for?
I mean we have the divisional all but locked up right now, we only need one win to even clinch a playoff spot, and we have 9 games left in this season. We were on a 4 game winning streak, and lost a close game where we outshot them pretty easily. We always suck against Ottawa, but it doesn't make this game any more of a "Must Win" game.
If we were in 9th it's a must win game. I just want to see a playoff clinch before we must win against the Senators.
I couldn't care if we lost every game against Ottawa for the next 20 years, if we make the playoffs for those 20 years and win a cup, I don't care about Ottawa. This team has a much better shot at a 7 game series than Ottawa right now. You can't only rely on Spezza and Alfie to win in the playoffs for them, and Elliot to play that way for however many straight games.
Well, one...it would have officially clinched the division but we can do that tonight. Second, we very well meet the Sens in the playoffs and, well, there in lies the problem. If we cannot beat them in the regular season, then it will be almost impossible to beat them in a best of 7. True, the cannot rely on Spezza and Alfie like the Sabres can't rely on Miller but they do....

It's a phrase that basically means, if you wanna see the Sabres at the top, turn the rankings.
