There's no reason to do anything with contracts at this point in the season, the only focus for the entire franchise is Game 1 of Round 1. Everything else can wait.
Ok let me put it this way. With not getting a contract in place do you think Lindy's gonna be a little distracted about something like that? I know something like that can linger in someone's mind durring big time moments and such.
But I'm sure Lindy will be well focused on winning us a series...
GO SABRES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hell and no. This is his life's pursuit, nobody is that dedicated to their profession as both a player and a coach because they just want to make money. Not over that length of time they aren't. Add into the fact that this isn't some hired gun, this is a guy who probably played against and lost too the Flyers while representing this very same team. If there's a man on this planet that wants to win this series against Philly more than Lindy Ruff I'd like to shake his hand, but that man doesn't exist.
Maybe Montador is a little bit of a contractual concern, if I imagined myself in his skates I might feel a little bit slighted. But, even if he knows in his heart that the team wont overbid for him, he should still be highly motivated to continue to play the best hockey of his career. Because the playoffs are the ultimate stage for showing how valuable you are to a team. If a player goes out there trying not to get hurt he will certainly suck, and you don't want that entering the biggest contract year of your life. So, again I refer to Scuderi who isn't half as good as Montador, and yet he went from 750k to 3.5 million with a heroic (overhyped) playoff performance. Most of you remember Mckee I'm sure, and his insanely retarded regular season/playoff shot blocking. He got 4 million a year back when the ceiling was at it's lowest.
