So with all the coaching moves/changes being made is there any chance we get Lindy locked up for another year or 2 before the beginning of the first round??

I was heavily against the idea of bringing Ruff back. But you got to admit the team has turned the corner on what they were back before this was still Golisano's team... Ruff's got these players playing with heart. Weber and Butler are playing like vets. Mancari makes Hecht look like a waste of space. Amd we may just have the next Briere and St. Louis on this team in Gerbe and Ennis...

I don't think Terry is going to get a deal done right now but Lindy isn't going anywhere and Pegula made that perfectly clear during his press conference. This is how I look at it if Lindy was ever to be on the open market he would be taken in a heartbeat by another team. I'm not worried about Lindy going anywhere and I have alot of confidence in Owner Terry Pegula and President Ted Black in keeping people happy and that means coaches and players. I see this team taking huge steps here in the future to be a great franchise for players to play for.

The Penguins locked up their coach just before the playoffs last year and they lost in the 2nd round to the 8th seed. That's probably just a coincidence, but my point is this: There's no reason to do anything with contracts at this point in the season, the only focus for the entire franchise is Game 1 of Round 1. Everything else can wait.

They're not going to distract Lindy during the playoffs with contract talks.

That will be dealt with later.

Ok let me put it this way. With not getting a contract in place do you think Lindy's gonna be a little distracted about something like that? I know something like that can linger in someone's mind durring big time moments and such.

But I'm sure Lindy will be well focused on winning us a series...

GO SABRES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hell and no. This is his life's pursuit, nobody is that dedicated to their profession as both a player and a coach because they just want to make money. Not over that length of time they aren't. Add into the fact that this isn't some hired gun, this is a guy who probably played against and lost too the Flyers while representing this very same team. If there's a man on this planet that wants to win this series against Philly more than Lindy Ruff I'd like to shake his hand, but that man doesn't exist.

Maybe Montador is a little bit of a contractual concern, if I imagined myself in his skates I might feel a little bit slighted. But, even if he knows in his heart that the team wont overbid for him, he should still be highly motivated to continue to play the best hockey of his career. Because the playoffs are the ultimate stage for showing how valuable you are to a team. If a player goes out there trying not to get hurt he will certainly suck, and you don't want that entering the biggest contract year of your life. So, again I refer to Scuderi who isn't half as good as Montador, and yet he went from 750k to 3.5 million with a heroic (overhyped) playoff performance. Most of you remember Mckee I'm sure, and his insanely retarded regular season/playoff shot blocking. He got 4 million a year back when the ceiling was at it's lowest.
