When asked by Howard Simon if giving a longer-term deal would be a possibility given the track record of the team, Regier said that times have changed as "it’s something we have not considered in the past." Another option the team has for acquiring players would be to sign restricted free agents to offer sheets. However, Regier said "we focused more on unrestricted free agency. We have talked about offer sheets but that is more unlikely...They are going to be matched."

Regier also gave the fans a little insight into the team's plans over the next few weeks saying that the Sabres would try to sign multiple free agents and would be active in any trading market before or after the start of unrestricted free agency July 1st. The Sabres' GM said that any acquisitions a center would be an "upgrade" and that the team plans to sign an "experienced" defenseman. The team has also had conversations trying to keep Tim Connolly and Cody McCormick.

What I took away from the interview:
- Offer sheets and long-term deals were more of a Goli/Quinn issue and not a Regier issue.
- Admitting Connolly is now looked at as a defensive center feels like he's signing for less or he's outta here
- Glad to hear they've talked to McCormick
- Love hearing they want another veteran defenseman (Hannan could be a good fit)
- He pretty clearly said he's going after big names. When have we ever heard him say that?
