I would not want to see a talent like Kovalchuk go; but if he wants to play in the minors, so be it. I hope he has the competitive drive to want to compete with the best.

Being on a winning team like Jersey might get him to drop his asking price a bit. If he doesn't drop that price the KHL will certainly pay it, and with the NHL cap pretty much dropping every year i don't see a team really shelling out that kind of money (maybe nashville, or LA where they might have the cap, but even then).

I don't think ESPN could go wrong on this idea. Of course the KHL is going to go after Kovalchuk, they are going to go after any free agent they can get, and really talented ones the KHL will just pursue harder.
