I dunno, I feel that Miller would not be happy at all if he had torest for the first game back.

Sabres Prepare For Penguins; Kaleta Practicing fully

Jeremy Noeson/Paul Hamilton Reporting
Buffalo, NY (WGR 550) -- The Buffalo Sabres got in one final practice before departing for Pittsburgh for tomorrow night's game with Sidney Crosby and the Penguins. Everyone was in attendance except for Ryan Miller and Lindy Ruff, who are both heading right to Pittsburgh.

All of the other Sabre Olympians were in attendance. Jochen Hecht, Henrik Tallinder and Andrej Sekera participated in the session; Toni Lydman did not.

Patrick Lalime and Canisius College's Andrew Loewen shared the goaltending duties as the team decided not call up Jhonas Enroth just for a practice. Lalime will get the nod in net tomorrow night in Pittsburgh.

Patrick Kaleta was practicing fully with the team Monday. He hasn't played since the Sabres last game in Pittsburgh on February 1st. He suffered a bruised foot in that game.

Andrej Sekera was on the Slovakian team which almost won the bronze medal and almost tied Canada with a few seconds left before that. Sekera was Slovakia's best defenseman for the tournament playing the way many felt he could with the Sabres. Sekera said, "I matured more than I thought, playing beside players like Chara, Demitra, Hossa, Satan, Palffy, these guys are legends and one of the best players to play hockey so I was just happy to play by their side and get to learn from them."

You can catch tomorrow night's game with the Penguins on WGR Sports Radio 550. Pregame begins at 6:30 with Schopp and The Bulldog. Rick Jeanneret will join them to open the show. Brian Koziol will have the intermission and post-game shows.

LALIME SLATED TO START, OLYMPIANS RETURN
Monday, 03.01.2010 / 3:06 PM / News
By Erin Pollina - Sabres.com

Ryan Miller will have to wait for a rematch with Sidney Crosby.

Patrick Lalime confirmed that he will be starting in Tuesday’s contest against Crosby and the Penguins, while Miller will take a much needed break on the bench.

After playing six games in the Winter Olympics – including Sunday’s 3-2 overtime loss to Team Canada – Miller along with Head Coach Lindy Ruff are set to fly directly from Vancouver to Pittsburgh to meet the team on Tuesday.

With the extra workload and travel put on the goaltender, Lalime said he was given the nod to start in Buffalo’s final match-up with the Pens this season. The theme may not be an uncommon one during the month of March, as the team prepares to play 16 games in 30 days – including eight games on the road.

“I haven’t really talked to Lindy or anything but we’ll just go one day at a time and whenever they tell me to go I’ll be ready,” Lalime said.

The remaining Sabres’ Olympians were also trying to get prepared Monday afternoon. Andrej Sekera, Henrik Tallinder and Jochen Hecht returned to the ice following their respective stints in the Winter Games. Toni Lydman was also at practice, but did not participate in the skate.

“[Pittsburgh] has a lot of Olympians on their team too… hopefully they celebrate a little too much,” Hecht joked. “But we can’t count on that. They’re professionals and are going to come out strong.”

“We expect a very loud building of course and they are probably going to do some [celebration] with the Gold medal,” Lalime added. “For us, it doesn’t change anything. We have to focus on our job and we just want to play as we call it an ugly road game…silence the crowd.”

The chatter circling Miller, however, was one topic that could not be quieted.

As each Olympian recounted their experience in the tournament, the questions inevitably turned to their goaltender’s play.

“He became a little bit of a rock star out there… everybody knew him, and every TV you watched he was on,” Tallinder said. “He had an unbelievable Olympics. I hope he can bring that to our team obviously. But he’s always been that good. We just hope he can bring that little bit extra to the final stretch of the season.”

“He was the backbone of their team… he did everything we expected out of him and I have a lot of respect,” Hecht said. “We know he can play. When he is on top of his game he can steal some games.

“He’s done that for us in the past and I think he can do it here again.”

If lalime is going to play like he did the last time he played i think miller will get his revenge on crosby sooner than most fans probably want. Heck i hope lalime gets a shut out.

Let me just say that I've been looking forward to posting in a new Sabres GDT since the 2nd day of the Olympic break. Sabres hockey is BACK!

Phil, man, I don't know how in the name of Grier you managed to pull off getting tickets to this one but can you do me a favor and boo Ovechkin like you're being paid to do it?

The final push is here folks. Now, this shit gets very real...

It's probably a gold or silver game in the middle of the week which turns goers off.

It wouldn't surprise me to see that any hitting like there was in the olympics to be called penalties. (thinking of Kaleta running a few people)

Seriously, there were some very questionable hits during the Olympics. I know Pattymouth will be running tonight after a month of being off. I can't wait, just can't...........

All the trade talk makes me kind of sad. I'm glad I don't play a professional sport.

Two and a half more hours to Sabre time on ice!!

Dang. The game's at 7:30, listed as MSG-B, but I'm not finding it listed in my program list on the DVR. Guess I'll have to flip through the channels at 7:30 until I find it. Damn, this was a persistent issue a couple years back, but this season has had very few games unlisted or listed wrong.

Can't wait for a TBN on Justin.tv for this game.
