My money is on 2. One will be a bigger trade for a top 6 scoring forward, and the other will be a smaller one for a pick.

I don't know how many moves it will take, but I think the net result will be Darcy trading our entire roster for the Washington Capitals' entire roster.

Eh... Possible. I don't know.

Wait a minute now, your the one that got me into the "optimistic and puking rainbows" mood :D

I just put up a couple of the colors on the rainbow is all, come on PSP, don't give up on it now bud, we have a division to win, a foe to conquer (The Evil Ottawa Senators  ) and a Cup to drink from. ;)

It's not that I don't think Darcy wouldn't do it. I'm just curious as to whether Darcy can get a defenseman back from somewhere so our blue line doesn't get depleted for the rest of this season.

I only saw him moving one defenseman, one/two forwards, and possibly a goaltender, with picks/prospects mixed with that.

That's as far as I see him going.

I think that Regier will make a couple of tweaks.

He might even sell of a UFA-to-be.

I saw 1 or 2. All of them minor. I know he is still a firm believer in trying to get something for players who are leaving at the end of the season. Not sure if he would get rid of both Lydman or Tallinder. One, maybe.

i hope he makes more than two, but if he makes only two i hope one is for horton, and another is for picks.

Ideally he trades for;
One, a puck moving d-man ie, kaberle or zidlicky.
Two, a true power right winger, ie Nathan Horton.
Three, picks courtesy of tallinder and lydman.

If roy is to be included in any of these trades a center would also have to be obtained unless we are planning on calling up Ennis. Honestly wouldn't mind considering frolik or fisher if we could get him.

obviously this is just an opinion, and should be taken as such.

I can't see Regier moving a "Core Guy" ala Roy at the trade deadline.

That's not Regier's style.

I also wouldn't be shocked if Zidlicky re-signs, Kaberle won't waive his NTC (or isn't even asked), and if the Panthers hold onto Horton.

Dreger dishes on Sabres at deadline

Nick Mendola

[email protected]

(WGR 550) -- For those hoping the Sabres are going to make a big trade deadline splash, TSN's Darren Dreger didn't do much to stoke their fires.

"I don't think the Sabres are hot on anything or looking to add anything specific," Dreger said during a Tuesday morning appearance on The Howard Simon Show, admitting that the only player he's heard connected with Buffalo was Carolina's Ray Whitney, and that was a few weeks ago.

Dreger was asked a number of questions regarding movement around the league, including one on whether Sabres soon-to-be unrestricted free agent defenseman Toni Lydman could be traded.

"It's possible," Dreger said. "His name has certainly been thrown out there in terms of players people in my business have to keep an eye on. I'm not suggesting for a moment that Darcy Regier is shopping Toni Lydman... but there are a lot of available NHL defenseman with quality experience."

"The Lydmans, (Aaron) Wards and Joe Corvos are going to attract attention," Dreger said. "Is the rate of return worth losing that experience going into the playoffs?"

Dreger thinks a lot of moves could be forthcoming, and was surprised more deals weren't announced yesterday. General managers weren't allowed to trade players, but were allowed to talk with each other during the Olympic roster freeze.

"I know from my sources that many general managers did take advantage of it," Dreger said. "I was a little surprised that only a few trades happened yesterday."

Dreger said it doesn't appear there are any superstar deals that will get done in the next couple days.
