I hope to go to a few Bills games, but ehhhhhhh I don't know about that at this point. They're gonna have to wow the shit out of me during the opener to convince me it's worth it.

I'm going to the Panthers/Bills game on October 25th in Charlotte.

It's going to be my first Pro-Football game.

Been to College and High School, so can't wait.

phil, i was reading some NFL sunday night countdown article on espn or whatever, and they were saying that the bills took a noticible step backwards this year. i dont know, they cant see the future, but one guy said 5 wins.

to the patriots and healthy tom brady. enjoy the show, folks. you have not ever seen a quarterback as good as him. good golly, do i miss watching at the university of michigan. nice guy, too.

meh, the lions? well, theyll be better then last year, but i am not expecting much more then 4 or 5 wins. but if they follow a script, i see a .500 season in 2010.

NOW I need to make a real football thread again.

The NFL opener is tonight, The Titans and Steelers. I could care less, and haven't watched more than a half dozen plays....

ETC's party is way too cool to be distracted by the game....

I'd take a gusty, Pennsylvania-born guy with a talent for no-huddle magic and a love of getting hit (rumor has it he wore linebacker pads because of this) over a pretty boy who's numbers are a product of the system, and not pure talent.

are you talking about tom brady? he certainly is not a product of the system, they had no system when he led the pats to the 2001-2002 super bowl. they were a decent team, and he picked em up on his shoulders and delivered them a super bowl. hes not a product of the system, the system was created and built around him.

he was special to watch at michigan, i remember the 2000 orange bowl win over alabama.

he doesnt have the most talent of all quarterbacks (that goes to payton manning) but no one can read, master, and manipulate defenses like tom brady. hes a one of a kind in that regard. that, and hes a pure gamer. the dude simply wins. you could put tom brady on the lions, and they would be a playoff team.

but yes, he is a pretty boy.

but jim kelly is who i assume you talk about, phil? ill vouch for him as a great quarterback, but not as good as brady. at least not in my opinion (i wont go the superbowl ring route. thats a shitty cop out)

Weren't those two wins delivered by game-winning field goals by Adam Vinatieri? (sp?)

The way I look at it, is without clutch kicking by Vinatieri, those wouldn't have been victories.

Brady is a product of a system, Matt Cassel was also the product of the same system that helped Brady.

Without a doubt Brady is a great QB now, but when he was handed the reigns he didn't just win games by 30 points or more, they won because of a system meant for winning.

Manning is a better QB in reading defenses to me, he is constantly adjusting his offense on every move by the defense, and he calls his own plays.

Brady is a great QB, so is Manning, but the whole Tom Brady rule is BS. I wonder how long it takes for officials to not call it because no one is going to follow it, you are taught to always go after the QB from Pee-Wee on up, not stop when you fall.

I could name 50 quarterbacks in the past and present NFL that I'd rather have than Brady.

The announcers remarked how Trent likes throwing to stationary receivers in the Bills - Steelers game. Brady is the same way, especially with Welker. Brady makes very few difficult passes. Hell, winging it up wildly to Randy Moss made even Duante Culpepper look good.

I wish Bill Simmons made Vegas lines. Bills to go 2-14? Stable QB, good WR corps, good RB, passable defense and excellent special teams? CV bets both nuts on the over... Who cares if we fired our OC, our playcalling has been so bad in the past few years we'd be just as well off with 100 monkeys and 100 playbooks.

Note how Brady wasn't even losing in either of those Super Bowls? The first Superbowl in which he has to lead a game winning drive from a deficit, he failed.

The Patriots are on a downward spiral because of how old their Defense is getting.

That entire team is one of the oldest in Football and will only get worse in the next few years. Unless the 100 draft picks this year makes a big difference or not in the next few years.

thats horse shit and everyone knows it. that team was not very good when bledsoe went down. brady came in and did awesome. yes, adam V hit the game winning field goals, but brady marched em down the field.

and last years superbowl last drive? he had what? 34 seconds to go the length of the field? if its 2 minutes, much different game.

cassell was the product of the system that brady helped build. cassell did awesome, but he was no brady. because he cant manipulate defense or read defenses like brady can. there is no one, and i mean no one, better at that, past or present.

Sorry, but you take Bellicheat and their excellent offensive system and playbook out of the equation and Brady is about as effective in the NFL as Chad Henne is today.

yeah, no. henne was a great college quarterback, but everyone saw that that was all he was ever going to be.. to discredit one of the best quarterbacks in nfl history as a product of the coaching staff is a joke. i understand that you guys are bills fans, but thats just ludacris. brady has a strong arm, and is accurate to the dime. tom brady on last years lions team makes them a .500 team.

Tom Brady has had one year where he didn't have great players around him.

Brady is a great QB, but he is not the type of QB who will just win games for you always. He was never that guy. He has had the system around him which is designed to win, short throws to the slot receiver who then takes off for ten yards. You think without that system he would have excelled.

Screen plays and quick slant routes is the Patriots system. Yes I hate them but their system would work with any QB.

Brady doesn't call all of his own plays, Manning does, and a real QB can call their own plays, and there have only been a very few QB's who could call their own plays and win games.

Brady is a great QB, but he was a nothing until he was able to do simple things his first year. Notice how Brady never threw 50 TD's until Moss came in or how he was a huge offensive threat. They have always had a great running game and a passing game which was decent enough to win, and a defense which shut others down. The entire team was a great team, one of the best teams in history, but to discredit the coaching staff on that team and say their entire success is because of Brady is foolish and stupid.

The entire team from Defense, to Offense, to Special teams was one of the greatest teams out there.

Brady has only thrown over 4,000 yards twice in his career? His best season for TD's was 50, his next best was 28. He has thrown over 10 interceptions in every season except one.

Brady is good, but he isn't the best to ever played this game or best to ever read defenses. He has had one spectacular season. He has only ever had a QB rating over 100 once in his career, Manning has had it multiple times.

41-10, NE. Bills on their way to a smooth 4-12 season.

Contrast that with Dan Marino or John Elway who had a veritable poopsicle of talent around them much of the time.

Look, Bret Perriman and Herman Moore made Scott Mitchell look like a God. Ditto Welker, Moss for Brady.
