I'm just so done with this guy. He used to be a sniper with the puck...now he can't even put his stick on it.

Look at the other players that make about what he does...
Martin Brodeur - $5.2M
Patrick Sharp - $4M
The Sedins each only make $900K more
Nickolas Backstrom makes $700k more.

There's a bunch of others that just make you scratch you head on how Pominville got $5.3M a season.

Am I crazy?

The Pomminville contract might be the worst contract on the team.

However, that was the going rate at the time for players that had put up the numbers he did. You'd love to see it unloaded, but it's going to be near impossible to do so.

Fans on 2 easy goals in the same period. He used to be such a sniper. I think he got the moeny and just doesn't have that fire in his gut anymore.

Except for the part about "He used to be such a sniper", I completely agree, and have been saying it for freaking ever.
Just listen to RJ, when you hear the name pominville, 99.999999% of the time you'll also hear it followed with a word like "cant, fails, doesnt, wide, misses, 'isnt able to", etc etc etc. Besides some decent play in his own end, and sometimes making a decent pass or two, this kid is a fucking joke for what he's paid. IT KILLS ME, how much money this asswipe makes.

I remember a post at the old forum about his blog, and how he said he considers shooting his best skill. WHAT!? You nearsighted twat, are you engaging in some sort of avant garde performance art, where you've perfected the act of shooting into the direct center of a goalies chest? YOU FUCKING SUCK!

Whew. Sorry about that, it's been building.

And no, I dont want to hear a damn thing about points, especially relative to other sabres players, kid just doesnt have 'it', and there is no stat that captures that.

And on top of that, he skates like my Grandma - hunched over like he just got kicked in the gut, and slow as molasses.

It's so frusterating seeing Pomminshit(and many others on our team) trying to make a play out of nothing, and fail miserably EVERY time..

Pominville has one of the worst contracts in the league. Not trying to exaggerate that.

It would be worth it if he was producing the same as before he signed that deal. Darcy paid him for his production 34-34-68 and then 27-53-80, and then he fell flat after signing the deal. This is all on Pominville, but I doubt he ever plays up to that contract.

And just think, we probably could have moved him to Toronto for Stempniak

yeah, but how much you want to bet that other teams are regretting the contracts they doled out to our former players?

There are a lot of bad contracts out there from the bloated stats and cap room from 2005-2007. Pominville is one of many. That's big reason why we don't see high contract players being moved right now. None of the GMs want to take on salary anymore after being snakebitten. League wide they pretty much want to let these contracts run out, close their wallets and stop the bleeding. The NHLPA has a great advantage with gauranteed contracts, and it's no surprise that players fall flat after signing their big deal. They know what the score is and they're too damn comfortable once they hit it big.

...and some teams are regretting not signing guys when they DID have the chance too, aren't they?

Also, some teams DID pay the guys what they're supposed to get, rather than overpaying them, and then saying free-agents are over-payed. Ya, only overpay for farm-raised guys, right? Then it will make your lousy draft strategy look better when you have 12 3rd and 4th line forwards.

his deal may be have appeal to a team with cap who is getting something else with it, say a prospect or pick, or in the latter years of the deal. though the deal is not very friendly as it doesn't decrease at all in pay. I'd say best option maybe package to a team that has room, and wants a prospect or a first. maybe toronto next year. as they'll not have a first, and are rebuilding, though burke is no dummy.

Sometimes he looks great and other times not so much.

While Pominville has been a terrible finisher lately, I like what he does in other areas of the ice, and as such, doesn't make my shit list.

If he would use his wrist shot more, we'd see a lot more goals. I have hope he can correct it.

The best time to trade him would be the draft, as for some reason big contracts are moved more easily then. but yea pommers needs to fix that shooting, he has been finding the zones just can't pull the trigger. wonder if the baby is keeping him awake or distracted.

Just saying.
