Drove hard to the net for a rebound.

Where's that been?

His ability to score was never in question, it's always been his work ethic, and his ability to stay consistent. If he does it for 20 games, then I'll be concerned about trading him. But 1 goal, no big deal. I think Kotalik scored in his first game with Edmonton last year too.

I know that. Just saying it for fun. :)

I'd be interesting to see a stat of the % of NHL players who score in their first game with their new club.

It seems as though it happens quite often.

Apparantly that wasn't in the system :D

In all seriousness though, I wish Mac well. Max fits right in on Atlanta. He's had a career resurgence there. Mac should do well to. Plus, the pick ups in the Kovalchuk trade, I don't think Wadell did so bad. That team has consistent scoring.

Interesting quote from Mac:

"My time kind of went a little stale in Buffalo."

Macarthur would make you forget he was playing for 5-7 game stretches.

Heck, I don't care if you don't score, but at least do SOMETHING to make a positive contribution on the ice.

Minus Macarthur couldn't do that.

Kotalik did very well in Edmonton actually. He went something like 11 points in 19 games there, which isn't bad considering he only had 32 in 56 games with us.

Atlanta is a more offensively based team, while we are more of a trap team than anything. Considering Mac is built for pure offense his numbers should go up. Even if he goes on a tear and gets 25 goals next year it won't matter. He wasn't a fit on OUR team, so it doesn't really matter if he contributes elsewear if he wasn't going to be in the long term picture anyway. Look at Max, he went from a 20 point guy here to being one of Atlanta's leading scorers. It just the system and Mac/Max don't fit in here but they will probably do well on an offense first mentallity team

Lol, 11 pts in 19 games = 33 pts in 57 games.

It will be interesting to see what happens to Mac when employed by another coach on a team where minutes are there for the taking. I've never been a Mac hater, and I think he will do well.

Mac could do alright in Atlanta, with their no defense system.

Though I've never really been a fan of the General. At most, he's a pretty low skill 20-25 goal scorer.

I agree MacArthur can light the lamp but like others have said he can't do it consistently and it's really no big deal getting rid of him. There are plenty of players that are expendable like him.

There are so many players that can do what he does. Heck, we could get a lower skill, harder working, bigger hitting version of MacArthur. I have no idea how we got such a big return for him.

I thought that was Darcy's best deal of the trade deadline. I want to give Torres the rest of the season to see what he does. But if Darcy has no plans on re-signing the guy then it's a total waste of a pick. I'm not a big fan of letting players walk and getting nothing for them.

How in the name of heaven did we get a 3rd and a 5th for Mac? Seriously? Atlanta is so stupid.

Hopefully we resign Torres. I'd give him 3 million a year. Wonder what his asking price will be?

Actually Timbo Slice it's even better than a 3rd and 5th, it's a 3rd and 4th for Mac
