I agree, I hate the guy, but he has skill. I think Kaleta can be like this in a year or two, as he has already shown flashes of that this season.

mmm, i disagree. avery has alot more skill then kaleta has. kaleta probably wont be more then a 20-25 point guy a year at the best, when healthy. its not a knock on him, kaleta just doesnt have that skill. avery uses every drop of skill he has and hes basically a 40 point guy.

Avery's highest point total was in 05-06 with LA, 39 points.Next highest was 07-08 with the Rangers at 33, and those are his only two seasons above 30 since his OHL days.

Avery does have more offensive skill than Pattymouth, but their early career numbers are comparable.

FWIW - I wanted us to pick up Avery when he was "unemployed"....you all hated me for it.

he hasnt really played a full season though. hes basically, in a full season, a 40-45 point guy. half a point per game. in his early days, he struggled to produce. i think kaleta will produce more, but not really all that close to avery.

As they stand now, Avery is a career .45 PPG, Kaleta is a career .35 PPG player. Pretty darn close if you ask me.

Kaleta plays the pest role pretty good, and he backs is up with physicality. Avery plays the pest too, but he'll try to score on you to rub it in instead of plant you into the 3rd row.

Different styles, both pretty good at what they do .

im not arguing that. pat has stepped his game in the offensive end, for sure. im just saying if you omit the first few years of averys career, he produces pretty well. i do omit them, because i believe thats the type of player avery is. of course, i cant look into the future, and my magic 8 ball isnt always right. but i dont think kaleta is a 40 point guy. where avery is. thats all. kaleta, however, could find himself on the third line sooner rather then later. increased ice time, line mates abilities are better. never know.

oh, and tom, i did some fact checking. kaleta is a .21 point per game player career. however, this year, he a .32 ppg player. and i think he will increase on that slightly on a regular basis.

but his shooting percentage is very high. is this a case of he has a good shot, or right place right time? either way, kid can put it home.
