Are you kidding? Divisional lead is very important...it guarentees your team is top 3 in the Conference, and when the season is coming to a close, teams are scrambling for every single point possible to secure a spot in the playoffs. Sometimes 5th-8th place are only seperated by 1 or 2 points and you have to go to tie-breakers in order to decide which team gets what spot. If you lead the division, you've clinched a playoff spot, even if there are some teams outside of your division who have more points (some people have argued that this is an unfair way to rank the teams, but this is how it's done). Taking the division is a very smart goal for a team to have.

I don't have a problem with the current seeding system for the most part. I think that there should be some reward for winning your division, and a home playoff series is a nice one.

I like it too.. I like in the NFL, how each divisional game is much bigger than the other games NFL teams play.. If we got rid of thecurrent seeding system, divisional games would be nothing more than a team that you play against a few more times each year than the other ones in the conference..

If you got rid of divisions the schedule would be more of a team thing, or I'd like to see it more. You play 82 games against 29 teams equally in that year, or you need to have some sort of rotating schedule thing to make sure you play every team equally in a certain amount of years.

That is only if they got rid of divisions though.

damned Ottawa won, but you figured they would since they played Edmonton last night.

Yeah...can't count on shitty teams to help us out. I was impressed that Toronto put it away in the shootout for us though.

We're not in second though.

If we are tied with Ottawa in points, we have first because of less games played.

ottawa has Calgary next, and calgary has been winning. should be a good game. calgary fighting to stay in the playoffs, ottawa fighting to stay tied. Go calgary.

I think we're going to be battling with Ottawa for the division lead until the end of the season...isn't our last game of the season against Ottawa too?

nope the devils, but we do play ottawa twice more before the season is done. Close though they are the second to last opponent. one more home game against them, and one game in ottawa.

It remains to be seen, but I think that the two games vs Ottawa are going to end up deciding the division. The Sabres need to stay on pace and at least split those games , but if they can do that they should be ok.

This is actually a scary thought Squanto. I believe they will beat Ottawa atleast once in the regular season.
The Dallas game gave me alot of hope they can break out of their scoring slump. I am looking for continued success tonight.

Ottawa lost tonight which is good, but Montreal is now only 4 points behind us (although we have 3 games in hand)...
