They are just ads so XC can ofset any costs associated with running SJ. If you notice the "Google Adsens [Bot] by the Users browsing this forum

Google tends read your cookies and what type of pages you're on and will associate ads for you that way.

It also does it randomly for every person basically.

Because I have an adsense account, google offered me $100 of free adwords traffic.

The adsense bot browses the site so it can display ads that are relevant. Make a thread about skydiving and it'll put a skydiving related ad on that page.

And just to set the record straight again, I make very little money from the ads...maybe $1 a week. I still encourage anyone that doesn't like them to use firefox with adblock plus.
This is not some sort of money making scheme for me.
