I'm sure Jerry Sullivan from TBN will love to see this. He's a Mizzou grad. :)

The kid who wrote is in an 18 year old freshman in the journalism school. Kid has no reason (or cred) to write an article like that.

That fact that his editors decided that was OK to print AND defend him is quite shocking.

This article looks like it was written by someone who has Google, Wikipedia and five minutes of free time, not someone who is actually in Buffalo. Snow joke, mention wings, city on the decline for years, Bills joke, wrap up article. Very clever.

I just forwarded that to Jerry Sullivan and Ed Kilgore, both Mizzou alums.

I'm sure they won't appreciate it much. :)

Rust Belt pride 4 life!

Seriously though, it's morons like this that make me proud to see my Internet-faring Buffalonian brothers and sisters rise up and tear a guy to shreds.

I love the one comment - "We made Dan Marino apologize for saying stupid things about our city...you're navel lint, comparatively." Owned, bitch.

One of the commentors also pointed this out. Boy howdy, does this kid not know how to pick his battles.

Sad thing is, he could have pointed out the same 10 things about us, and said something about we're putting on a great show, and we'd have all loved it, even it was a backhanded comment.

Now this 18 year old punk is going to learn a great journalism lesson about how NOT to piss off an entire region.

Pretty much.

You'd think that every journalism program across the country would have a "Do NOT piss off Buffalo" primer at the beginning of every semester.

The kid plagiarized about half this article. I think his editors might enjoy hearing about that.

Well his editors got a nice long e-mail detailing the level of plagiarism in the article. 3, 4, 8, and 10 are taken almost directly from wikipedia (in some instances with one or two words changed, but the same terminology and tone).

He has as much journalistic integrity as a journalist. :?

No, really, I've seen too many stories from such ubiquitous sources as the AP implying things that a half hour on Google will prove are false that I can't take anything in the news seriously anymore. Sometimes I even think the truth is more interesting than what they're selling (usually it's not, but if they got the right angle on certain stories, it would be), but oh well.

I am convinced that fact-checking no longer exists in the mass media. I mean, yeah, that seems such an obvious thing to point out, but people still 100% believe the news every day even though they think they agree with that statement. There's a reason I always play the "wait and see" game and look things up myself after the fact. :P They're wrong far too often for my comfort.

This kid's not any worse than the next guy.

Bingo.

People still extend trust, though. I will never understand it.
