I just can't wait to see if this place gets popular enough in the future to get a sudden influx of trolls that will never go away after that point. Fun to be had by everyone!

That's not a terrible idea actually.

Wouldn't the Sabres just say no to the idea because the advertisement would pimp a competitor to the team's own boards?

I doubt that the marketing department would care. The webmaster certainly doesn't. :)

Hello my Friskie Donkeys!

Just a quick response to a couple posts in here.

-Most of us who are no longer very active in here are friends, and friends stick together. Because of our common bond of being older farts, it was pretty much inevitable, at some point. We are a close knit bunch.

-The Olympic thread was unfortunate; and I am loyal to those who are friends. You dis them, and I take great offense - be they right or wrong.

-Good to see these boards remain active - though I never doubted they would; there are some very passionate fans in here, and for that I embrace them all.

-None of the previously mentioned who left has taken their ball and gone home; we keep in touch, just not in here.

-Lets hope the winning continues, and we all have something to continue to smile about. The boards are primarily about a mutual love for hockey, the rest is secondary...

Howie

I know...so do I :(

I put a ton of effort into mine and they truly were top-notch threads, but my record this season is just deplorable. So I stopped doing it.

I've become a marginal poster in the past year or two, but it has nothing to do with the board (which Crosscheck so graciously created and maintains), the moderators (who do a good job of walking a fine line between allowing freewheeling, passionate discussion without letting the place turn into an outtake from The Warriors), or the various people who post here.

I just realized that I was allowing my posts to become too combative and argumentative (especially in the political forum). I'm normally a pretty laid back, easy going kind of guy, but when it comes to things I'm passionate about I love to argue. It is kind of a sport for me. Still, it can get to be too much and I find that combativeness transfering to other parts of my life.

So, I'm trying mellow out, avoid television news, and maintain my cool when the Sabres lose. I still check in regularly, because this site is a great source for what is going on in Buffalo hockey. I just post less than I used to.

There is an ebb and flow to everything. If the Sabres make a real playoff run, you'll see 30 page GDT again. And if, by chance, the Sabres make it to the Stanley Cup finals, this will be the place to be to share in the excitement.
