Sorry, Mike...it's always so difficult when you lose a pet. My cat died over the summer and today I was just thinking about how much I miss him.

:( My cat Grant, who is the best cat ever and one of the only ones I've ever liked, is thirteen this year, and my dog is eight. I never want either to die. (The other cat, however, that is seven... well, I wouldn't care.) Grant was the runt of the litter, and when we got him as a kitten he could curl up and sleep in the palm of my mother's hand. :3 He was very sick and would have died had my mother not convinced my father that we take him; it was because she bathed him and took care of him every single day that he made it. He was so tiny, even to my 7-year-old self. Now he's the best cat in the world.

Sucks, man. I'm sorry.

The Ocean's most recent album was written as a soundtrack for the formation of the Earth and their next release is a concept album about the rise of a heliocentric view of the solar system. This band is full of German nerds and I love it.

That happened to my cat when I was 11, I was 2 when I got him, and had been with him as long as I could remember. It sucked.

We have 6 cats and a dog now. The dog is going to be 13 this year, and one of the cats has to be around 10 or 11 years old too. :/

I'm so excited for tomorrow. Random day of no classes weeeeeeeeeeee! Sometimes, I very much enjoy my school.

Also I am an idiot because for all I know about genetics, I did not know that hair color is not inherited by one gene being present in the phenotype but probably is the result of a bunch of them. Basically, a kid can end up with hair that's a color in between what both parents have and it's not because it's a gene that was present in the genotype but not the phenotype of one or both parents; it's because the two hair colors combined, soooo someone with black hair getting together with someone with blond hair and popping out a brown-haired kid is probably not the result of some gene in the genotype; it's probably because the blond and black hair combined to make brown. How I never figured that out from seeing it over and over again in people's chitlens, I'll never know. Durrrr. IT'S SO BASIC. I'm pretty sure now that the only thing directly affected by what can be seen in the parents/predicted with any accuracy whatsoever is eye color. Why two of my brothers and one of my cousins are blond even though both my parents, all their siblings, and their parents all have/had dark hair, however, is due to genes being tucked away in the genome and not present at all in the phenotype, as is why I look like my grandparents and, according to older relatives, great-grandparents but not my parents at all (except for the fact that I've got my mother's cheeks when I smile and my father's color eyes; the shape of my lips and eyes, my nose, my chin, skin tone etc. all came from elsewhere... I don't really look like any of my brothers, either, and have had people not believe that I'm related to two of them upon being told so even though I have the same smile as one of them and the same darker skin tone as another and the same color eyes as two of them etc. basically under analysis we look related but not at a glance).

My high school band director was arrested yesterday for sexual relations with minors during my senior year.

I know all of them who were involved, and there was 5 kids in total. One of the kids actually admitted to me he was involved when I was talking to him about it.

Makes me sad for those who were involved, and makes me outraged that man would do that stuff to them.

Damn, :( shit like this really annoys me.

Just recently a student (female) had a fling with a female soccer coach. The coach was working here only as a coach but it just came out a few weeks ago and that it had gone on since the middle of my freshman year (she's in my graduating class) they had apparently slept together... How the parents didn't find out sooner is beyond me, but holy crap why does happen and who thinks it's a good idea??? Teachers preying on students. Fuckers.

Yea, and it was five kids it happened to also. I know three of them from a friend who knew about this way before it happened and the three I know are all dudes. Two of them are actually gay, but still, why did it have to happen to one of my really good friends is beyond me.

None of my high school women teachers were that hot except one I had, but she was a total bitch.

But there was about three total in my school that were totally bangable.

That happened at a school in Buffalo. This teacher was dating one of his students, but he eventually got busted. A friend of mine had him as a teacher when all this was going down...talk about creepy.

The next person who asks me, "Why?" when I say I've never had a boyfriend is going to be met with a, "Because," because I'm tired of answering, "Because I want to be," and having the person not comprehend it at all and ask more questions. I know it's only going to get worse as I go through my 20's. Whatever. It's all right for a man to be single after the age of 18, but a woman? OH NO! OLD MAID! Shut up and stop asking me questions.

Justice has a tendency to be incredibly slow... I almost feel like putting justice in quotes. :? I'm too wary of the entire system, which is sad because we have one of the best in the world (one of the worst prison systems, though). Sometimes it does take years to make an arrest because they want to make sure everything is air tight before proceeding. The cases where people are arrested right away usually, to me, indicate either REALLY OBVIOUS guilt or innocence + an overzealous DA in it for the potential publicity because they are after all politicians/a police department rushing to get the entire investigation over and doing a crap job of it jumping on the first person they suspect, basically terrible work.

I know someone who knew a couple that now is one because the wife was murdered, shot in their bathroom, and her husband was charged with murdering her because his fingerprints were found on the shopping bag in which the gunshot shells were found; however, I would challenge you to find anyone who doesn't keep old shopping bags, and that is the only evidence of any kind that ties him to her murder. Additionally, the gun used is still missing, and her estranged brother said after she died that, "Oh, yeah, my gun has been gone for seven months, just so you know!" In the bathroom where she was shot, there was blood that didn't belong to her, her husband, or their son. After the trial, two witnesses who do not in any way know each other came forward saying that they saw the same car leaving their driveway that night. He was tried, found guilty, and sentenced to twenty-five to life, and they've been trying to get a retrial for months now. Their ten-year-old son lost his mother and then his father a month later (that is what I mean when I say that quick arrests usually lead me to believe either entirely obvious guilt or obvious innocence and shoddy police work/an overzealous DA). This is someone that, according to everyone who knows him, would never even hit anyone, much less kill his wife. His son adores him. I know some kids whose father killed their mother five years ago (it was a high profile case locally; that was weird), and let's just say they hated him long before he did it. It's just... Yeeeaaaah. Fun times.

My one friend knew for a month that my old teacher was going to get arrested for this.

But I'm glad they came out with the truth. He was a creep sometimes.

lol Every time anybody says something like that, you know somebody's gonna come out and be annoying on purpose, making it not annoying. :P I don't tell my friends ANYTHING that annoys me, outside of people being absolutely stupid and ignorant about homeschooling, because half of them were at some point as well so it's fun to caricature ourselves together.

Rant time because I seriously love ranting: I roll my eyes so hard when I hear people worried about socialization with homeschooled kids. Guess what? When I was a kid, all I had were my brothers, my cousins, and the neighbor kids, whom I knew my entire life anyway so they were basically cousins, too, and we were all homeschooled, and I turned out FINE and so have all the rest. I don't think it's any different than kids having the same group of friends. My family wasn't typical with that, anyway. Most join all sorts of community organizations to have their kids meet other kids; mine didn't, but that's not the norm for homeschooled families. As far as the education goes? I learned to read at two (and haven't stopped; thank you to my father) and could have started first grade at three, but my parents waited till I was five so I'd only be a year ahead of other kids my age and fit in better with other kids at my grade level (ended up getting held back and repeating ninth grade when I entered school because the principal said I was too young for tenth, whatever), and if I'd stayed homeschooled through high school, I would have graduated college at seventeen or eighteen because I would have taken college classes all throughout high school. I'm positive I could have gotten A's at fourteen in every college class I've taken so far. Homeschooled kids outperform kids schooled both in the public system and in private schools in every single category. Colleges prefer them, especially Ivy League schools, because they do so well. I hate the education system, anyway. To me it seems they teach what to think rather than how to think, and I hate that. I also hate the system of testing; that doesn't teach a thing, just teaches kids how to memorize things for a day and then forget them.

I just remember being a kid and having people ask me these questions that I knew were absolutely stupid and ignorant even as a six-year-old. Every time homeschooling pops up in some media report it's basically one misnomer after another, and they take themselves so seriously, referring to kids as simply not going to school rather than homeschooled, like it's inferior when in reality it's by far the opposite as far as education goes, and you get people all concerned about socialization and THE WEIRDNESS OMG and it's like give me a break. I swear people forget what it's like to be a child and how children actually learn the basic things in life; it does not happen in school. They don't understand kids at all. Also, in New York it's kind of annoying to homeschool. I had to take so many standardized tests every year to make sure I was keepin' up. Got 99th percentile in every category on every last one I ever took, which continued on into high school with the ones you have to take there. And all the paperwork my parents had to fill out... It's as bad as California, but New York's basically the most regulated state in general lol.
