This is simply amazing, this guy has some balls to do what he did, and he not only took a $500 beater car and raced, but beat out cars worth $400K in a rally event.

1989 Nissan Skyline R32 GT-R for me.

Yea, he didn't have a crew, so he had to work on his own car, and he learned how to build an WRC full roll cage.

That's awesome, good for him.

And, I want a Subaru Impreza WRX STi. Those cars are soooo sick, my cousin has one and is customizing it.

Or one of the old Saab 96s:

amazing story! And for those of you who want to build a car on a budget and have some fun racing... let me introduce you to the 24 Hours or Lemons.... yes $500 cars racing at some of the most famed road courses in the states! lol... i'll be there some day, when i have a bit more room to work on a car...

http://www.24hoursoflemons.com/

as for the dream cars... ya gotta love the STI, older ones, silly hatchback of the current gen does nothing for me... also LOVE the older 2.5 RS, would love to do an STI drivetrain swap in that someday... Im with ya on the Supra, but the prices are silly... the NSX is an instant classic and what you can make a first gen Z06 sound like makes me giggle

I would love to participate in the 24 Hours of Lemons. In a few years I plan on joining the SCCA in the finger lakes region.

I have a friend who has done the 24 hours of Lemons twice.

About this story, let's be honest.
He bought the car for $500....then he maxed out a few credit cards getting it race ready.

It's not a $500 machine.

But it is a 500$ car. ;)

My one friend told me about that race, and me and him want to try and do it sometime.
