While the Senate is in session, there must be unanimous consent for committee meetings to continue for more than 2 hours after the session starts, and to continue past 2pm.

This has apparently never really been a problem... until now. Republican Senators are objecting to allowing these committee meetings to continue, and as such meetings are being canceled or stopped in the middle.

Pretty darn pathetic in my opinion.

I'm in full support of either party shutting down congress.

The less they do the better off we are.

Both parties use parliamentary tricks when they're in the minority...I don't see the issue here.

The Democrats, as the majority, wrote the rules.

I don't think the democrats have ever sat there like little children folding their arms together and sitting in a corner doing nothing. The republicans are just being little children.

The issue is that they're being paid to be there and work for the people who elected them, and they're deciding not to.

I'd have just as much of a problem with it if the Dems did it.

Oh yes they have.

Remember it's the Democrats who are the professionals at being in the minority.

===Politics===
US Taxpayers: "OK guys, time to work for us, we elected you and everything"
Democrats:"OK, wow, look at the time, 2:00PM, another few hours and I can go home"
Republicans:"Nah i've had enough, and therefore I'm going to stop you from working past 2"
Democrat US Taxpayers: "but... well.. we're paying you to be there"
Republicans: <folds arms><says nothing>
Republican US Taxpayers: "YEAH YOU GO GUYS, SHOW THOSE DEMOCRATS!!"
Democrat US Taxpayers: "WTF, we can't fire you"...

If you're actually worried about how much work they do you should ask Nancy Pelosi about why the House was only working 3 day weeks until health care came to the table.

They get to work on Tuesday and leave on Thursday...Democrats workin' hard for us taxpayers.

Now this is funny.
Isn't living in a Republic so much fun :)
I would wager that a good portion of Americans would prefer a virtual democracy as opposed to this.

As much as we all love to bash Congress, they are the representative body of the people. Now, if you don't believe in representative government, that is a different matter.
